Nov. 28, 2009 Western - Post Thanksgiving Relaxation Cruise

Emily and I started packing tonight; earlier than our usual - but it was good. Now to get things organized - but a great start!

Big weekend ahead here. Friday we have dinner at a favorite place downtown and then the Radio City Christmas Spectacular touring show. It's also "light up night" in Pittsburgh which means all the buildings leave the lights on to make the city shine, Christmas windows are revealed at department stores, lighting of Christmas trees and fireworks. We'll probably see a bit of the action between dinner and the show and then fireworks afterward.

Saturday, DD11 has a swim meet in the afternoon and Mina and I are going out on a date that night. :cool1: Sunday is church and lunch with my dad, his wife, brother, sister in law, nephew and his wife. Then we get serious about packing and wrapping up some work projects. May have to get the Christmas boxes down from the attic too. Phew. I'm tired just thinking about it all.

Much to my cat's consternation:lmao:, my sofa is now filled with my luggage.
Everything is packed except my camera, netbook and insulin (which I can't pack until the last minute):banana:

Morning all! :)

Mina, it's nice to see you on the thread.

We have one cat that keeps laying on the sweatshirt I keep re-washing for DH. I've put stuff on top of it and he keeps pushing it off to sleep on the sweatshirt. Its dark blue and the cat is an orange tabby, and apparently shedding. I think I'm going to wait until the night before we leave and re-wash it one last time. I guess it's the cat's way of telling us that he's angry with us for leaving. :rotfl2:

Hi Guys,
Well we are now on week three of illness at my house. We are now all on antibiotics for bronchitis. Quick question since our cruise is only 7 days away, will they let us board if the girls still have a cough or runny nose? I am not sure if all their symptoms will be gone by then. Although I really have my fingers crossed.

i don't know if they will let you on the boat or not but i do know that you are no longer contagious after 48 hrs on antibiotics

does that help

as you all know

we fly and arrive on the same day as our trip

we leave friday for the greater toronto area and leave at some ungodly hour on the 28th

my kids are so excited - they are trying to bamboozle me into letting them take the friday off from school

not going to happen - if i got to work they have to go to school:rotfl::lmao:

I called and got the list of movies playing on the Magic while we are cruising. I didn't bring it into work with me but I don't remember The Princess and The Frog being one of them. A Christmas Carol in 3D is. :thumbsup2 Also I can remember Bolt in 3D, The Shopaholic Movie...shoot. My mind is on overload. I can't remember anymore I'll bring the list tomorrow. :upsidedow

We are driving down to Buffalo Thurs night, staying at the holiday inn express, Friday we fly out at 630am, arrive in Orlando at noon, staying at the Hilton on WDW, going to the all you can eat Lobster at the boston lobster restrauant, do some shopping, then the next morning, hellooooooooooo cruise.:cool1:

Hey WDW experts (and although I think of myself as one I can't remember the answer to this).

Is there a sports bar at Downtown Disney. We are going to be at SSR the day we return from cruise and my alma mater and favorite football team, Pitt, is playing Cincinnati for the Big East Championship that day. We have a lunch ressie at DTD early -- 11 a.m. - so I'd love to just hop over somewhere to watch the first half and then schlepp over to the ESPN Club at the Boardwalk to watch the second half. Any ideas?

Sorry to hear that. I believe you'll be alright. The question they ask is if they've vomited in the past 3 days. And if all else fails, let the healthier adult check everyone in while they go and check out the videos that are playing. We've got sinus infections in our family. DD is finishing her antibiotics today and DH will go to the dr and get his tomorrow. :sad2:

I wouldn't worry too much about the movie list. When I called I asked her about Old Dogs as it opens on 11/25 and its definitely a Disney movie. She said that unless the movie was out in the theater then she had no idea if it would be on the boat.
My list when I called was Bolt (3d), Toy Story (3D), Confessions of a Shopaholic, Surrogates, Hannah Montana, Up (3D), Xmas Carol (3D) :thumbsup2, Earth and something else. I asked specifically about Old Dogs and the Frog movie. :sad2: Let's just keep our fingers crossed. I really got the impression that she had no idea and really didn't care either.

They should have something near the main club area at SSR. I wouldn't say its a Sports Bar but they might have something. I would call and ask if I were you. Maybe something by the pool?

Hooray! :yay:My Fish Extender finally came in today and it is gorgeous! Love it! Grady'sMom Tiffany did a beautiful job! I'm wondering if any of the other cruise lines have things like the fish next to their doors. I don't remember from my previous cruises on Carneval. Does anyone know?

Can't wait for next week!!:dance3:

I should start packing for DH and I but probably won't bother until Thurs. a.m. I pretty much have everythign packed in my head... :rotfl:

A lot of you are leaving before us...what are we going to do to pass the last few days once you abandon us?? hehe

Hiya Jeff's wife....:) Nice to see you pop on. Are you getting super excited? What's the one thing you can't wait to do?

I called earlier today about the movies too...and the girl sounded clueless...and basically told me all the movies that "could" be playing. It was the same list you posted Allison. I think at least Bolt, and COnfessions of a Shopaholic are no longer playing. I was annoyed that the girl didn't seem to care, and said..."you'll have to look at your daily navigator"....DUH?!?!?!

I pack in my head to Jessica...hehe...That is why I generally wait till the last second because I spend the majority of my time planning in my head...and then BAM! I get it all done...

I was right near Home Depot today...but I the kids were being wild and crazy so I didn't run in to get my Lime Green Mickey paint chips. WILL do that tomorrow or Sunday.

Thanks for the reassurance. I was pretty sure we wouldn't have a problem, but I am in panic mode that we would somehow miss this trip (afterall, we have been to Disney 9 times with my 8 year old and she has been sick on 7 occasions - hospitalized 3 times, so I feel a little jinxed). We have 1 week to get rid of all this sickness (cross your fingers). By the way, I have an 8 year old daughter so our girls will be in the kids club together. Thanks again and I hope you all feel better soon (my youngest will be going to the Dr. again tomorrow).

I hope everyone recovers in time to enjoy the cruise. I have been fighting a sore throat for two days. I just hope nobody else does. We are doing the Vitamin C, washing hands and not sharing anything but space. Which can't be avoided. Keeping our fingers crossed.

It has been so long since I was posting regularly - I don't remember how to respond with the quote - :)

I am getting super excited - we all are! Can't believe it is only one week away!

The one thing I can't wait to do - I think the sail away party. I love that part. All the excitement and anticipation and then there you are and watching the ship sail away. One of my many favorites - can't wait!
