We have only done our cruising on the Magic and the Wonder and I ALWAYS have to pull my kids away from the Lab/club. We have actually experienced every level of youth programming on the ship, except the nursery, which we will experience on this trip. We have to schedule time with the kids to leave and go to dinner with us. If we didn't make it a requirement for the number of dinners that they have to attend, they might just stay there and sleep someplace in the lab/club. ;)
When my son got older and out of the club/lab age, it was a little nerve wracking, because it was harder to keep close tabs on him and his little group of friends. We got to know the other parents with the kids in the same age group and we all just kept an eye out on all of the group. It was like the village concept in real life.
Hopefully your kids will be much like ours and want to do everything the lab/club has to offer.

Thank you so much for your tip. I am definitely getting ready for pre teen dramas and I will remember your tip when we go to cruise next time. :goodvibes:goodvibes

My kids will be off the ship with their dad while we're in Cabo for two of the day times (he and his wife are flying down to Cabo to spend some time with the kids). I made a reservation for Palo for 6:30 on Thanksgiving for myself. Anyone else dining at Palo 6:30 Thurs.? :sail:

I missed chance to reserve a dinner at Palo, so I will see if I can do it on board. It will be nice if I will be able to be there at Thursday dinner to join you. Maybe :)

Hi all. First time Disney cruiser. Just finished reading all 36 pages. Whew. So I guess customary info: DH40, DWdoyoureallythinkidpost?, DD9, and DD6 who will become DD7 during the cruise. Wondering who I could contact for any fun birthday extras for her. Ideas welcome too. I think DW arranged for a cake and we're doing the pirate ship excursion that day.

There is a place to fill that out when you do the only registration. You will also want to make sure your room Steward and head waiter knows. You will have a room Steward that will go out of their way to introduce themselves the first day. Because they spend 12 hours a day cleaning rooms you will also see them in the hall ways all of the time. You will see the head waiter your first dinner. You waiters will move around to the different dinning rooms with you so you will have the same two people serving you all of the trip.

Happy birthday Disney Style!

Happy birthday, look at those beautiful cakes!

The Tigger cake was red velvet. It was so yummy.

MY DH and BIL have Main Street USA all to themselves.

We went to DCA the week after it opened and it was raining, deserted as well!!!
It was a great way to see everything without the crowds!!:thumbsup2

It is more like liquid sunshine when you are at Disney. We had a fabulous time.

We did not do this at the beginning of our last cruise (our first with a teenager), and we had to do it in the middle. Now we are going ready for there to be NO drama, because he will know the consequences and expectations from the beginning.

Great advice! I wish I had heard or read this before our last cruise, luckily the trouble they got into wasn't big, but we would have been saved some headaches.

I read that suggestion on the Disboards, which is such s fabulous resource!

You still can get reservations at Palo on Embarkation Day. We call it the Palo Dash. As the rest of our party goes to Parrot Cay for lunch, the rest of us "dash" to Rockin Bar D to get those reservations. What is the bar called on the Wonder? I am drawing a blank.

Presently, I am serving jury duty. It is just a waiting game right now. I am thinking about the Wonder. What will I be doing ? I will be soaking up the sun as I wade my feet in the Quiet Cove pool and I enjoy my post massage buzz. Sounds like paradise to me!
What is your paradise on the Wonder?

We can decorate the cabin doors, right? Magnetic or not? I'm too late for the FEs but want to do something fun anyway...:smickey:pluto:

we're planning on doing so. Magnets, non-adhesive stickers, magnetic dry erase board, etc.

I got my reservation online (in addition to a few spa appointments!) on the Disney Cruise website. You just need your itinerary reservation number to log in. I just did it last week so they still may have some available online...:surfweb:

Good to know about the dry erase boards... I got some stuff at Michael's last night to decorate and affix magnets to... anyone think it isn't a good idea to have our names (me and my kids) on the door to our stateroom?:dumbo:
man, I love these emoticons!!

We have always had our names on our door and have not had an issue.

Some things we tell our kids:
They can't bring another cruise kid of the opposite sex back to the room (especially if we are not around).
Remember that just like at Disney when your name is on your mickey ears, people call out your name, that doesn't mean they know you, they are still strangers.
There are lots of safety tips for kids and cruising on the board, but these are just the things that we tend to make sure our kids know.

Today has been an FE kind-of-day! Anika (11) and I have been cutting, pinning, and sewing for a while! Actually, I should be honest and admit that I don't have a clue how to sew, so I'm doing the cutting and pinning. We're having so much fun! :tink:

I can't believe the cruise is getting so close. We're heading to Michael's this evening to get supplies for other gifts and then I'm going to get Allyson to help us with those. :earsgirl:

We also booked the canopy tour for Puerta Vallarta last night and we're trying to decide what to do in Cabo. :goofy:

We're doing the canopy tour in PV and the snorkeling/party boat in Cabo. Hopefully it isn't too much of a party boat since my kids will be there! Didn't say adults only! I am also doing the sightseeing tour in Cabo and paid for both my kids to join me, but they will be with their dad instead. :dumbo::tink:

I have a feeling that I wont be able to join the meet on embarkation day with all that will be going on and I will be getting the kids ready to go to the lab/club at 9am on Mon so that I can be ready for my Spa appt. How can I find out if there are room changes for the FE?

I'll bring extra list, and make changes. You can try to find me for a new list. If there is a better idea, let me know.

We were too late to join an FE list, too, but we're still decoratingthe door, and hanging an FE, bringing some goodies, etc! I figure we'll make friends along the way and I also plan to sneak stuff into it for my daughter. princess:

If I am not mistaken there are two or three people that were to late for the FE's and would like to do it. Maybe you can get to gather and do your own FE.
