Nov 17 thru Nov 24 - good time?

We're planning a trip for next fall, and I thought maybe this schedule wouldn't be TOO bad crowd wise until maybe the Weds before Thanksgiving.

I was looking at arriving the Friday before Thanksgiving (Nov 17th), and checking out the day after Thanksgiving (Nov 24th).

Can anyone give me an idea if this is a good time to go crowd wise and if there's anything else going on at the parks this time of year that I may not be aware of?

It is important for us to go during a quieter time for MOST of our trip because we'll have a couple of elderly grandparents with us who won't be able to handle the crowds very well, but I thought it would be nice to celebrate Thanksgiving with everyone in our group on the last night of our trip.

Any opinions, please?

Thank you! :wave2:

Supermom.....I am thinking of going at the exact same time! With my dh, 2 dd's & my parents. I'm interested too in what our DIS experts have to say? WHat about turkey day? Can we get a traditional thanksgiving meal anywhere? Where are you thinking of staying? We usually do value's because my kids love them...but i'm not so sure about my folks.

We spent Thanksgiving of 2005 at WDW, we arrived the Saturday before Thanksgiving and stayed till the Saturday after. The first weekend, I would say is normal weekend amusement park, it was crowded. Mon and early Tuesday were nice, but Tuesday afternoon until we left, the parks were very crowded in my opinion. I was so glad we did all the major attractions early in the week.

My DW and I have discussed this, and we have decided that we would most likely, NOT return during the Thanksgiving week.

We're thinking of staying at one of the DVC (Disney Vacation Club) resorts, although we're also planning on buying a DVC contract soon, so that helps us to narrow down our choices. LOL :rotfl:
We were thinking of Old Key West, Beach Club Villas, or the Wilderness Lodge Villas. I'm leaning towards OKW or WL. I think Beach Club could be a little too busy for my parents.

I wouldn't do a value resort with my parents, but that's MY parents, and I know they would get sick of all the "kid noise" very quickly. Your parents may be more tollerant though.

I would consider a moderate though. Probably Coronado Springs Resort since it has a GREAT pool, pool slide, and playground that my kids would LOVE! (the area is called the Dig Site, and I hear it's one of the best in all of WDW!) Also, the food court there, I think it's called the Pepper Market, gets really good reviews, so I know my parents would appreciate that - and we would too!

I know that there are restaurants that serve a traditional Thanksgiving meal, but I don't remember which one's, so maybe someone else can help you there. Or, you could do a search under the Disney Restaurant board for "Thanksgiving dinner", and see what comes up. Come to think of it, I think I'll do that too! :cool1:

Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful trip! We're going to do some more thinking about it. If my parents come, we may change our dates to a quieter time, possibly to the end of September instead. We shall see... :wave2:
