Nov 17, 2016 Magic Kingdom - closing at 4:30pm ??????

I have no issue with them doing this. I think it's great they are doing it.

I do have issue with them doing it in the same park they are closing early several nights that week already for MVMCP.

It's too much.

Choose another park. Choose another time of year. Maybe the CMs would enjoy some exclusive access to the new things at AK?

Different type of event with different access, but there's already been a major cast event in DAK this year. They probably didn't want to double up there

I think if they are going to close at 4:30, they should offer a park hopper to a different park for the rest of the day.

Why? They promise you admission to one park per day not a specific park. If you go to a park that is closing early that's your choice. They haven't forced you to go there and you could have chosen to go to a park that's open for the full day. It's no different than choosing to go to MK on a party night.

There's a big difference between closing at 4:30 and closing at 7:00. That is outside the norm of closing times. I've always heard you can't complain about the 7:00 close for parties because MK's base hours are 9:00 to 7:00.

Doesn't change anything I said. You know it's closing at 4:30 and if that's too short then don't make it your park for the day. It's completely your choice if you go to a park that has short hours and Disney is keeping its side of the bargain by giving admission to one park and because it's your choice they don't owe you a park hopper for the decision you make.

I don't think they neccesarily "owe" you but it would be a nice gesture and get more people in the park that day, who will be spending money.

.... especially since that makes 4 nights that week the MK is closing early.

:sad:Our trip dates are 11/12-11/18. We can't justify the extra $300+ for the Christmas Party. Unfortunately this extra early closing day makes 3 out of our 6 vacation nights that we won't be able to end the evening at MK.

I considered adding another night to the end of our trip just so we could end our vacation with MK fireworks, but it's another early close/party evening.

I'm happy for the CM and their families, just wish Disney would have scheduled this event during a non-party month.
Just a suggestion- but if you considered an extra night, and extra tickets, you should be pretty much even with that $300...and just go ahead and get party tickets. Especially once you factor in food/drinks/etc.

It's kind of funny - posters complain consistently when Disney makes last-minute changes to park hours, adds events, etc. Here Disney is providing the information over six months in advance ... and posters are complaining :)

While DebbieB's suggestion is interesting, it really doesn't seem to be good business sense. They can't add hopping to just one day, it'd have to be for the length of the ticket.

Does anyone know why Magic Kingdom is closing at 4:30pm on Thursday, November 17, 2016 (and it is NOT a MVMCP night). The only night of the whole month that MK closes at 4:30pm. I would think it was a typo, but closing on the half hour is unusual and seems pretty deliberate.

Sucks because I was planning on that night as our non-party evening at MK.
the hors are not even posted for the nov 17 on disney website.

They could just waive you through at the second park, they can tell on their iPads you were at MK. I think they would make more money at MK that day if people were allowed to go to a different park after 4:30 closing. Otherwise, it's going to be a ghost town.

I would be willing to bet there will be people at City Hall complaining and they will be accommodated.

Give it up Debbie. There will be signs before the entrance telling people the park is closing early. It's their choice to continue past that point. Stop thinking about the closing time and focus on the fact that entering MK that date is a person's choice of how to use their ticket that day. It still comes down to, you choose your day's ticket at a park that's closing early then that's your choice and Disney didn't force you.

It's getting quite repetitive to repeat the obvious so I've had enough of this for this thread.

yes, there is going to be plenty of notice OUTSIDE the park gates as to the closing time of the park. Guests will be considered to be on notice once they have actually entered the park. and they can close that park anytime they want, for whatever reason. Is it more "wrong" to close at 4:30 for a travel agents convention than it is to close it for an employee service celebration, or to close at 7 for a hard ticket party?

I dont think it's "wrong" regardless of reason, but i agree with Mom2rtk anout bad timing. Isnt the first week of Nov party-free between the Halloween party ending and before Christmas parties begin? Seems like not a huge change and yet so much nicer that guests who are already jockeying for an MK evening around party dates.

They used to have the cast member celebration at DHS. Construction at DHS. Construction at AK. I don't believe Epcot ever closes early, although its hours have been extended at times. I think we will have to put up with the celebration being at MK until DHS is available again. and maybe even past that.
