Nov 10, 2014- Dream is alive - 2 days in Paradise and a Day at Sea

Sorry to see you are waiting so long. :( I don't know what has happened to the moderators. FWIW, not much is happening on the Facebook page at the moment, your not missing out on anything.

I've said it on the FB page and I'll say it here. (I may have said it here before) I'm active on FB and Disboards. If the two admins want to make me an admin (I administrate another FB cruise group from last November, which still remains fairly active) on FB, I'd be happy to do it. I don't do FE, but I could find someone who is doing the FE to maintain the database. The document can be set up on the FB group instead of Googledocs to make it easier to see. The excitement in my other group running up to the cruise was palpable, and it was strong for months beforehand. This FB group seems to be just dying on the vine, and I'd hate to see that.

That would be great if we could start another Facebook page and a new group of fish extenders. I don't know how to do it or else I would.

Please share if you do decide. I have to wonder if the moderators of the FB page are still going or not. I've noticed that one has changed their profile pic a few times, so they are on FB. It's a little frustrating. I'd be happy to help moderate as well, since I am on FB everyday

My family and I will be on this cruise...our first Disney Cruise!! I'm a huge Mouse fan and I'm very excited to get our feet wet on this cruise:):):)!! This is the first cruise ever for my husband and daughters (9 and 6) so I thought the shorter cruise would be a good start. I'm hoping to relax on Castaway Cay after a quick and busy 4 days and WDW. I am thinking about participating in the FE, I think the girls and I would enjoy it, but I'm a little unsure...feedback from those who have participated would be helpful :)!!
Thank you and I look forward to meeting you on the ship!!

I have put in a FB request as well. If anyone starts a new page please post a link. I was hoping to connect with some families with teen girls. My DD will 15 and is a bit nervous about the teen club. She is in a wheelchair and uses a computer to communicate. She is VERY social and a typical teen (just has a physical disability). Many people find it hard to come up to her so she thinks she will be "by herself" all the time. Any suggestions greatly appreciated! We would love to do FE too.

I agree it may be time for a new group. They have been tagged and MUCH time has gone by no progress or response, and people not able to get in, etc. Trying to give the benefit of the doubt, but there's only so long you can do that as well before it's time to move on. A message that they can no longer admin, or just a reason for the absence would be considerate for sure. I also am on facebook daily and would be happy to assist. We also don't do FE's, but would be happy to help organize or moderate the group. I would love to see it more active, especially with this being a double dip, and has that extra special something to it. :thumbsup2

Let's try this again.

We will need someone to take the reins of the FE group. As I've said before, I don't do FE, so I don't feel comfortable maintaining the FE list, but if somebody here will take the reins I will make sure they are an admin on the new FB group and can upload/update the necessary documentation.

Join this group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/236171286573249/

I've set it up so far so that anybody can approve a new member. If we wind up with spammers, etc. I will take away that ability, but for now I think this works.

Not to step on the toes of the admins for the other FB group, but lack of responsiveness and failure to follow through on membership requests has made it necessary to start a new group. Hopefully everything is OK in their lives and they will still be able to join us on what promises to be an awesome trip. :thumbsup2

Thanks goes to Phinz , for doing to work to on building a new Facebook Group for our Double Dip Cruise. Here is the link=

All new or members from the old group are welcome. We want to see a active and happy FB group for people to feel welcome and wont have to wait weeks to be added to the group. We are working the FE how to handle this as well.
Feel free to come join Us.

Thank you so much! We are doing land after sea and today was 180 days out. Booked all our dining. Everyone in the house has Disney fever (more than usual). Looking forward to a great trip. We have never done FE before but I am on FB all the time and am a professional organizer so happy to help in any way.

The most recent FE list that I'm aware of is uploaded to the new FB site. Somebody please step up to maintain the list. It should be pretty easy to do. I can make that person an admin so that they can upload the latest list as needed.

Thanks!!

Yay, glad I found this thread and a FB page set up for the FE list!

I am going with DH and DM and a friend of ours who has shared a cabin with my mom...and then we are then going with another couple we cruise with, as well as another handful of friends. This will be a big group and it will be awesome! Some of us are running the Wine & Dine right before the cruise, so we can relax and recover after the race!

Hey all,

Well, this is my first cruise for me and my fiance (before the stress of planning a wedding) But I've heard about the FE and I did this through a Travel Agent (done numerous trips on my own to WDW) and now I'm kinda scared that I might get motion sickness, or some other issues may arise....(I over think things a little too much)

But the few questions I do have are

1. Do we need passports?
2. Tipping on the vessels, how much?
3. Just two adults, is there any suggestions on anything cool for the cruise (granted we are both kids at heart!)

Please and thank you!

If this is on the wrong thread I'm sorry, but I know this is the cruise I am booked for!

Thanks!

Welcome!!

1. highly recommended, but not required
2. tipping info is here https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/planning-center/my-cruise-plans/faqs/onboard-services/gratuities/
3. I would suggest Mixology (sign up at guest services when you board) and get a rain forest pass (buy before from the 'gifts' section)

I had the same concerns the first trip we did about motion sickness as I am prone to it in the car, but knock on wood have done 2 cruises with no issues.

Hope that helps!! :)

original fb and fee is fine and active. we use the fb page for ease of use. its hard without names on this site to know for certain if you message was received or not as they may not connect as same person. im a member of the group and would be happy to add name, there are a number who can, so maybe there was misplaced trust that knowing we used fb more that members who were on both fb and fee would add you, or connect with members on site with names if needed. we are ones to solve not point fingers etc, or try best not to be drawn into it. were human like you, I never recd any note and posts until few days ago were no where near this drama
trips can cancel, change, etc up to 75 days prior. no one can or will promise a no change list. right now theres 28 apx on it. so with kids etc...not sure total but it adds up to amt I would want to be sure. that's me. so again let me say sorry for hurt feelings. ive always went on about our group and how great they are and this is for fun, not to complain about what you get or to look at list as a Disney telemarketers dream for sales of crafts for people who cant make them. which I cant. I hate drama too, it showed up only in last wk by couple people for I don't know what. I tell hubby don't care whose right lets just solve it. after lookin at fb you decide worth drama caused or don't. again I say this all is for fun, but be a reasonable adult. which ever choice have a great time!!! none of us gets extra cruises or anything to be on certain fee. still want on let me know, if not-have a great time!!! don't forget sunscreen and deck shoes!:wizard:

Are we SURE we don't "need" passports? I think technically we do. Castaway Cay is not part of the U.S. but is technically in the Bahamas, a foreign country. We needed passports for our two-night cruise to nowhere this past weekend because the Disney Wonder sailed into international waters.

If you don't have/bring your passports, you're risking being denied boarding. I would NOT risk that.

Also, even if Disney doesn't require passports, say you experience a medical emergency while on Castaway Cay; in order for them to fly you to a hospital in the Bahamas, you would need your passport.

You still have plenty of time to get new passports, but I wouldn't put it off if I were you, especially if you have to gather up your paperwork (certified birth certificate, etc.), as those can take time depending on where you're obtaining them from.

As for things to do, there's SO MUCH to do! The most important thing you want to do is to pore over the Personal Navigator. It looks like a newsletter and you get one for every day that you're on board the ship, and it will give you a schedule of what's happening that day.

As first-timers it might be hard to get a reservation, but you might see if you can get reservations for Palo (either dinner or the brunch buffet) or Remy. The latter is themed after the famous rat in "Ratatouille" but with very subtle high-end decor. If you have never experienced a high-end classical French restaurant, it's a slightly modern version of Victoria & Albert's at Grand Floridian (but you won't get a personalized menu, etc.). and both of those venues will allow you to experience a very fancy meal without shelling out $200 per person.

Since you don't have kidlets, you might consider a late seating for dinner. Fewer kids that way, and you have more time during the day to do stuff.

There are evening shows in the theater, movies shown all day in the movie theater, a wonderful spa (get a couples massage--again, must book very early), great fitness center, jogging deck, adults-only pool and area, and all the food you could ever want.

Don't know if you've cruised on other lines... about the only thing you do not get on a Disney cruise ship is gambling and adult cabaret shows. They still have adults-only stand-up comedy and stuff but no cabaret shows. Instead, you get wonderful Disney-quality musicals and things that are wonderful.

... and then, you can always lounge by the pool and sip mai tais all day, too!

Definitely not required and would not have been required on the two-night either, but like you said VERY wise to have them. But you will not be denied boarding without them, as long as you have the other acceptable forms of ID.
