I need some help figuring out if I will have enough points to stay the time frames I am looking at for Nov "09" or Dec "09" or if we decide to do Jan 2010. my trip will need 314 points for reservation. I have

I'm confused by your post. Is your first allotment of 200 points coming in August '09? If so you'll have 200 at that time and 200 coming in 8/10, correct? If that's the case and you need a total of 314 points you'll be fine. You'll use your 200 '09 points and then borrow 114 from your 8/10 allotment. That will give you the 314 you need for your reservation and will leave 86 points in your 8/10 Use Year.

If my understanding is incorrect please post more details so I (or another DISer) can help you further.

Did you bank 6 points from 2008 to 2009 (206 points remaining)?

For a Nov 2009, Dec 2009, Jan 2010 trip, all those dates would be in your 2009 use year. If you don't use any points before you make the reservation, you have 206 Aug 2009 points, plus you could borrow 200 Aug 2010 points.

I took family last year and we used all my points so I will have 200 of 09 coming in Aug i believe and since we are talking about going either Nov or Dec or 09 or maybe even Jan 2010, I want to make sure I am covered or I will start renting to fill it. I believe I can use my 09 and borrow from 2010 but not sure myself.

yep you got my question right on the nail, I did have 6 left so I had them banked to next use year. sorry I am not "getting" the point thing very well.

If you are getting 200 points in Aug. '09 they will be "current" for the reservation you want to make, as will the 6 points you banked. You'll then need 108 more points which you can borrow from your Aug. '10 Use Year, leaving 92 in that UY for a future stay.

So yes, you're covered. You'll just need to borrow those 108 points. Remember, too, that borrowing is a final transaction and you won't be able to return those points to your '10 Use Year. If, for any reason, you have to cancel your reservation they would need to be used by 8/31/10 or you would lose them.

If, for some reason, you decide you need more points, you'd want to get a transfer into your account from another member, not rent points. Renting points infers renting a reservation that stays under the control of the owning member. Transferring means the points actually become yours (though they retain the UY and resort of the original owner) and you maintain full control of the reservation. But you can only transfer once a year, either in or out, of your contract.
