I am posting this in disABILITIES! because we always used the legacy FP system to reduce the need for GAC use for DD. "Use FastPass" continues to be a suggestion for those requiring the DAS system. Please go to the forum Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies and click on the thread "[ADVISORY]WDW-MagicBand Only Testing Begins at Disney's Pop Century Resort".

Starting with Thursday check-ins at Pop Century, even if you opt out of the Magic Band, the KTTW issued to you WILL NOT WORK in the FastPass machines. You can ONLY use the FP+ system (FPs in one park only per day, limit of 3 FPs, FPs must be on 3 different rides/attractions). If you have an AP or ticket purchased from Undercover Tourist, etc. then those may (probably) work in FP machines.

It appears at this point this is for check-ins 11/14 thru 11/19 only and only at Pop Century. It appears it will be suspended for the Thanksgiving period.

Moderators, I hope you allow this thread. I know it isn't specifically disability related, but being able to gather FPs to repeatedly ride a specific ride may be an important part of the planning for some ASD guests. I'm sure others may rely on it as well. Since it is beginning just 2 days from now, I felt a warning was in order.

Wanted to add this....

This advisory is from the CM Hub. It is also being reported on easywdw and kennythepirate websites, not just here on DISboards.

It's fine to post here.

We got back from OKW on 11/9/13 and were part of the Magicband trial.
We did schedule three Fastpass Plus times for each day.
We did not try to see if we would be able to get 'traditional Fastpasses' also.

I don't understand why a warning is needed - FP is still available, as FP+. So, when they state to 'use FP', then they mean 'use FP+' which gets you 3 preselected FPs each day. Using that, with a DAS, gets you 4-5 attractions with limited in queue waiting.

I am still uncertain how FP+ will affect my future trips as we are always at SOG.

Also if you do not get a physical "band" I assume there is some other option like a card or something?

Thanks for the heads up!

Eventually, all resorts will be included and all guests will be able to use Fastpass Plus.
No one is sure if it will stay limited to 3FP Plus per day or if that is just for testing. Also, it is not clear whether all guests will get Magicbands or just those staying at WDW resorts.

I think a 'heads up' is probably a better word than 'warning'.

We just got back from WDW and only used the 3 Fastpass Plus each day that the Magicbands allowed us to schedule.

We used a DAS also, and used it in conjunction with FP Plus. We scheduled our FP Plus times and then worked around those times using DAS Return Times and
attractions with shorter waits in the Standby lines.

We were very strategic in looking at what the length of the Standby lines was for different attractions and did use the My Disney Experience on our phones for seeing what nearby we could go on with short waits.

Even though the Fastpass Plus can only be scheduled ahead in one park, if someone park hops, they can still use the DAS in the next park to get Return Times and can still make use of the app to look at Standby wait times.

My DH, DD and I were not able to get to the parks early in the morning, but other members of our party were and got on most of the headliners with short waits early in the day.

delete...correction on what I posted:

I just found t his: http://www.militarydisneytips.com/b...nds-fast-pass-plus-and-the-military-traveler/

Seems that you can link to the FP+ system with the military ticket, but , the problem is that you can't do it in advance like everyone else since you don't get your physical ticket until you purchase it (or redeem your voucher) at SOG.

edit again: this seems to make it sound like SOG can't.

But I'm confused really. I thought the FP+ was tied to your ticket, not your room.

You are correct - FP + is tied to your ticket and WDW has written that it will eventually apply to all guests.
Right now, it is just WDW resort guests who are being invited to participate.
No one is sure when it will roll out to everyone.
