Nothing Rare Anymore

I've basically given up on trading because no one that has what I want wants what I have. They only want things that I don't have to trade. And those that actually do want what I have don't have anything but buyables that I already have tons of.

Wow, this just says it all, doesn't it? Sounds like the story of my life on vmk. I just trade for fun meaning that it is unlikely I will get something really great but just the aspect of trading, even buyables can be a lot of fun. And a few times I have actually been lucky enough to have something given to me by a very generous person....not inferno or green flips or anything like that but still, fun nonetheless. I find that lowering my expectations in trading scenarios makes it more enjoyable.

I have found people who don't have the items they really want and have played for a very long time, are not willing to part with their inventory to get it. Usually thinking it's silly to give so many items for one such item. Thats their choice, but the truth is they could have that item if they wanted it.

Yep, I'm one of those people. All the "desired" stuff that I have, I only have one of. I could trade it away and get the rarer stuff on my wishlist, but then I'd lose things that I also want and I'd just have to put them right back on my wishlist again. It would basically be a neverending cycle.

Okay, I don't know if I agree with this. Granted, I haven't been here since day 1 but I've been on vmk for a couple of years now. I have a lot of things in my inventory but I don't know of anyone that would trade me half of that stuff for a stitch hat or minnie or whatever else I wanted. From what I've seen on the trade board here and in the game it seems like people are looking more for the quality of an item vs. quantity of a bunch of not so rare items. I'm not referring to buyables either but even things that have been retired. In the end I think a lot of folks are holding out for something really special when they know they have a rare item everybody covets...can't say I blame them either. I just don't think it is true that anyone can trade for their wishlist if they really want to.

The traders dont have this cycle ;)

If you have ever played a RTS the traders are the people who can fire and forget. They will always beat the people who don't like to lose their armies and build pretty bases. Thats the secret to trading. you have to sacrifice your stuff to trade up.

trade your stuff for firewalls ;)

trade 5 firewalls to get a clock

trade 2 clocks to get your sparrow

trade 3 sparrows to get your stitch hat ;)

I think your just looking to far ahead.

My problem is having things that people want for the firewalls..

and I've been playing for years.

Do you have a quest kiosk? 22,000 or 23,000 credits will get you one, normally. It should only take a couple days of religious playing to reach that. If you don't have that much time, maybe a week or so. Still not that big a deal.

whats the point of the trade button tho?

The problem with this scenario is that no one wants what I have to trade for their firewalls.

And I still can't figure out why on earth the sparrow would be worth 2 clocks? Clocks are pretty coveted and there are no more to be had where as people are still getting Sparrow.

But, I can no longer get those kinds of credits even in a week of playing. I can't score that high on fireworks, I can't get that many ghosts in HM, and I can't find people to play friendly pirates with when I'm available. And by the time I get home from work, the scores on JC are too high for me to meet.

same thing I just wrote, trade your 05 and 06 pins for firewalls. Your 05 hats for firewalls. Once the ball is rolling it will snowball downhill.

ETA: No fault of yours, but see you do fall into that category I mentioned. You don't like to let go of your inventory. Thats ok btw, I dont see anything wrong with it. Just pointing out you coudl have these things your choosing not to part with your inventory.

any of your 05 pins are worth a firewall ;)

except I lost them when I forgot to logon to my other character that a started back in September or October of 05.

and alot of people don't seem to like all the pins I have now :confused3

Well that is different, my assumption was anyone that has played a long time would simply have bought those items back then. If you no longer have those items, well its out of scope :rotfl:

Yeah.. you should have seen me the day I found out that I waited to long to login on that character. I was heartbroken, but lucily I was able to recreate her with her original name. I've learned my lesson about not logging in! :rotfl:

Those 05 pins I believe are worth more than a firewall. There are many firewalls being added to the game every day. There are not 05 pins being added to the game. Also, I only have maybe 1 or 2 of those pins now. I traded them all away before. And no one wants my musketeer hats.

I lost my princess hat due to the game selling it instead of the stupid POTC poster. I have yet to get that back.

I will not lose most of my items to only get 1 or 2. That defeats the purpose of collecting those items.

Some of them are definitely worth more than a firewall, I was just pointing out you said most people dont want your items for firewalls.

The smaller items are easy to replace ;) But you are classic to my earlier point. You don't like to trade your inventory.

The reality is your item is ony worth what people are willing to give for it.

I would classify myself as one of those ppl that hang on to there inventory. (stuffoholic)

So when they release the stuff I do not have it is a total winfall for me!! I have been playing for years and in that time have accumulated three sparrows and many firewalls. What did I trade for them? Nothing, gave it all away. I am one that is too scared to trade thinking if I got a good deal or not. I am much happier giving to my friends on vmk who do not or can not get this stuff then me trading for something I do not have. I figure eventually I will get it! So far, it has not stirred me wrong. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I don't get why it's so important to you for people to have to trade away everything that they want for just one item that they want. How do you replace something of a lesser value if you can no longer buy it and no one wants stuff that's came out less that a year ago?

No one even wants the green wreaths I have. If they do, then they want to give me stuff that no one else wants. What good is that?

As I said, I only have 1 or maybe 2 of stuff that I bought back in 05. it makes no sense to trade away several things I only have 1 each of just ot get 1 thing. No sense at all.

It's just like spending all your money for a big fancy house and not being able to furnish it. It's just stupid.

My main point is to release those items that haven't seen the light of day in almost 3 years on a very limited basis. Many of those original items have been lost due to people losing those accounts. There are far fewer of each of those items now than there were in June 05. But many, many more players. Put some back into the game so that it makes it not unobtainable except to those that have 14 infernos.
