I was going to be meeting a friend at 2:00 in Orlando so I decided it would be a good chance to possibly ride BTTF one last time if it is indeed closing.
First, Im glad the numbers for attendance are up because you'd never know it today. I first went to IOA and it was dead, I mean Hulk and Spidey were walk-ons and the rest of the park was empty!! Now I was only there for about an hour, talked to a nice employee at the weapon/armory section of the Lost Continent for a few mins, he let me hold one of the LOTR swords...first time I've ever held one, not as heavy as I expected it to be.
Anyway, not much news to report at IOA, other than at Dueling Dragons, one small section of the queue was boarded up, though if you didn't know it before its hard to even notice. It's the small section to the right before the last turn where you "choose your fate". Maybe they're going to make it easier for guests to enter from re-rides, or universal express?
I headed to USF and it was a bit more crowded, went on Mummy, single-rider line, no wait...MIB had some issues, my gun was hardly registering anything and some of the audio wasn't working on the ride. Also there was no car across from us which really takes away the competition at the end where it shows the two scores.
I still can't stand that they play "You Cant Touch This" outside of MIB, it doesn't fit AT ALL. MC Hammer was waaaay out of style when the first MIB movie came out. I mean Fresh Prince music would almost make sense here...you know...Will Smith...
Anyway, I headed to BTTF and again, no wait for this one...it had been a few years since I was last on it. I was looking over the 2nd floor and saw some large temporary looking buildings beside MIB and behind BTTF, the trees were really in the way, but I thought I could make out a very oddly shaped building...almost looked like a big hersheys kiss shape, but just grey metal. I wish I could have gotten a better view. I can also pretty much confirm that only the left side is operating on BTTF, could not see anything on the right side during the ride.
After having my final ride I agree that it's time for something new, first the film itself is showing its age, its still pretty rough and that makes you get uncomfortably close to your neighbors unless you're holding on to the big lapbar which is not easy.
I also noticed pretty slow service from the TM in the ride, I wondered if they're having to load 2 cars at a time, thats what it seemed like.
On a personal note, the Terminator Store is selling Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children and even original Final Fantasy VII figures. I really wanted the Cloud and motorcycle set from Advent Children but they wanted $70 for it.
Just an FYI if theres any other fans here
