For Christmas music!!!!

I get in my truck this morning, tune in to my fave station, only to hear Christmas Music. So from now until Jan 1, this is all they will play.

I'm by no means a Grinch, I love Christmas and the music. What happened to Thanksgiving?

All I'm asking is just one more week, start sprinkling a song in here or there and then on Thanksgiving day let it play until after Christmas.

I know, I can change the channel, turn off the radio, pop in a CD. It's just too early and I'm not ready.

You are not alone!

I love Thanksgiving & all it stands for. I refuse to listen to Christmas music until Santa comes down Fifth Ave. at the end of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade! But I don't want it to be all Christmas music all day on the radio stations, I love to hear some holiday music mixed in with other songs. I guess when my favorite station switches to all holiday music all the time (on Thanksgiving Day), I'll switch to another station. I think I'll listen to sports talk radio all day!

I like to start early. I'm bad--just this morning, I dug out a Christmas CD to put in the car. :teeth: Hey, I don't get to enjoy them very long so I started a bit early this year!

I agree. I cannot stand the rushing of the holiday that has begun earlier and earlier every year. I love Christmas, it is my favorite holiday. But, I like Thanksgiving too and would like to see it not loose it's place in the limelight.

Missy1961, I'm with you, once they switch over to 24 hours a day non-stop Christmas music we tune to another station.

A station around here (Chicago) started it up the week of Halloween. I am all for Christmas music, but could we at least wait until Thanksgiving???

One local radio station started playing nothing but xmas music starting this past Saturday. I like listening to it, but I'm not ready either. By the time Christmas gets here i'm ready to scream. lol

ITA... I love Christmas. I was just making out my Christmas Gift List and I already have gifts bought but not music or Christmas specials.

Grinch was on last night and Holly Hobbie Christmas was on Nick Jr today... too early.

I am not ready either. Hearing the Christmas music before Thanksgiving makes me feel pressured. Right now, I feel like I am trying to do two holidays at once. I am in the middle of planning and grocery shopping for a big turkey dinner while trying to get stocking stuffers and gifts!!!

I am going nuts!
I have such a love/hate relationship with Christmas anyway.

Sometimes the music makes me smile and I can't wait for Christmas.
Other times, usually when I am feeling broke or out fighting the crowds and bad weather, I feel like if I hear another Christmas song, I will scream! :sad2:

I'm right there with you, Beth - I feel the same way! When I got to work this morning and turned on my radio and heard Christmas music (that stupid "Dominic the Donkey" - ugh!), I turned it right back off. I'M NOT READY!

I really like the fact that one of our local stations plays all Christmas music during the season. I know it can be overkill, but I will tune in.

However, I most certainly do not want it there before Thanksgiving

If I need a fix, I can play a CD until the "proper" start of the season.

I will sometimes play a favorite CD a little early myself. But it drives me nuts when a radio station plays it 24/7, KWIM?

Oh, you know what's even worse!? TBS (Turner Broadcast System) freaking showed "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" cartoon version this past weekend! What is up w/that?!?!?! It's not even Thanksgiving!! Everyone knows that you cannot show "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" before December 1st (at the earliest!) for crying out loud!!!!!!! Is nothing sacred!?!?!?

While at MGM on Oct 24th, what do we realize we are hearing??? Yep, Christmas music!!! We stopped in a shop and asked why they were playing Christmas music so early. One CM told us they didn't know but another CM was on the phone with someone asking if they realized they had Christmas music playing!!!! It was too funny. They were told that Disney was testing out the sound levels since they have had issues with the right levels in the past. That was a shock to our poor systems I'll tell you.

:guilty: Waaaahhhhaa....I am SO ready to hear Christmas music but nothing here. I have Sirius and was wondering when one of the stations would make the switch. Last year one of our regular stations started Halloween and then the other station followed a week later. One was labeled as "Philly's Official Holiday Station" the other "Philly's Original Holiday Station" :rotfl: Anyway, it seems that there has been some format changes here in Philadelphia, the "Original" station is now a Spanish station :confused3 and the "Official" still has not started yet :guilty: Oh well, maybe this weekend!

It IS starting earlier this year, it seems like. Maybe next year it'll start even before Halloween. But I don't really mind it that much. I've already been shopping, and people around here have been putting out their decorations already, although I haven't done THAT yet. :)

For me, The music shoudln't begin until after Thanksgiving. Then and ONLY then... Should Xmas Music Begin.

I am right there with you!! They have the music online at the 106.1 website, but it's just not the same without "We're back with more Sunny Sounds of the Season"... and they played the best mix of Christmas music - perfect balance of classic with more contemporary... *sigh* B101 has some big shoes to fill this year.
