my DD's and I spent the weekend at six flags great america, in gurnee Illinois.

priceline hotel hampton inn 42$ ( very nice hotel, my only complant is the window on 2nd floor did not open- i am a stickler about having fresh air while i sleep )
six flags was pretty packed, we go every year in july ( get a great ticket price) got on alot of rides though...saw all of the shows my DD 4 once again got to go on stage with tweety, daffy, slyvester and bugs to dance
ate at mostly counter service ( we have develpoed favorites over the years ) they did have a character buffet but we missed it- tickets must sell out fast.
all in all was a great trip.....the night in the hotel i dreamed that the window opened ( LOL) and when we looked out over the trees we could see cinderellea castle ( I MUST be excited for our trip in november LOL)

I went there a couple of years ago. It has some really great roller coasters. The raging bull being the best I think. I am sure the crowds are heavy all the time there. They are not open year round. I think I want to try Cedar Point soon.

Thanks for the report. Our family enjoys many non-Disney trips. We went to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg last month and it was great. Last summer we went to Dollywood, and we also enjoy Silver Dollar City in Branson. We could do a day trip to Great America but we are not coaster people. I get sick and DH just does not like them. Only our oldest DD would try them but we would have to bring a friend to ride with her. Was there much else to do there that was not thrill rides? While I would like to try it sometime, there is just so much else to do and see in Chicagoland, and only so much time and $$$$$. Glad you had fun...Lacee
