My hubbie and I will need razors when we are down there. I not sure where to pack them in the suitcase or a carry on bag . After 9/11 I am afraid they woudl think this is a weapon . Same idea with a pointed nailfile. Do I just put them in the carry on and tell them they are there.??
thanks Diane

Last time I flew I had to take my nail kit out of my carryon and put it in the checked luggage. I'd say if they are located in the suitcases you'll be fine. You can always ask at the counter before you send off the bags like I did. This was an international flight and a couple of years ago so not sure if it's changed.

At one time, I had put my razor in my purse. (I was afraid that I might have skipped some areas on my legs and if I did, I could just shave in the bathroom. Well... they didn't stop me.

If you want to know... They no longer letting the lighter fluid in the carry-on/purse. I saw this on the news last week. I don't own one so this is not an issue for me.

Pack it in your checked luggage. I fly out of Logan Airport (Boston) and they took away my round tipped crayola craft scissors, my nail file and wanted me to check my pins (fat chance) I wouldn't risk it, throw it in your checked luggage along with anything else questionable.

You most certainly can take razors, nail clipper etc.. However, they MUST be in your checked luggage.

I was contracted by the TSA to provide training to the screeners and in your checked luggage those items are fine and not what they are looking for..

How are the new TSA-approved locks for the luggage? Are inspectors able to remove and replace the locks easily when they need to check a bag? I like the idea of keeping my bags locked and giving access only to TSA inspectors. Thanks!!! :flower:

I work at AAA and we've been selling the TSA locks for almost a year- I've never had anyone have any problems w/them. They come in combination locks and key locks.

I have taken a safety razor in my carry-on bag everytime since 9/11. The last time was about 3 weeks ago to New Orleans. I have probably flown over 50 times since 9/11.

Since we do only carry on luggage we buy razors & nailclippers w/file when we get into Orlando. We always go cheap--disposeable razors--as we leave them behind. we were told by SWA ( Feb '05) that those items may only go in checked luggage
