1 year ago I was down about 30 pounds and was working out with a personal trainer. (I still had another 10 pounds to go) The company closed and I did not find another trainer because I was getting bored and did not want to spend the money. When I was working out I ate healthier. Now I have put on 10 pounds and my clothes are starting to not fit right again.

I do not want to hire another Personal Trainer because of the expense. I am currently walking on a treadmill about 4 times a week, but feel I need to do something else. My sister loaned me her copy of P90X to see if I like it, but I only get 15 minutes into it and quit. I also bought the 30 shred but have not tried it yet. I do not have access to a pool or a gym right now. Does anyone have any suggestions for something fun?

I would join a gym and use the web to put together my own workouts. I firmly believe that going to a gym is beneficial for a couple of reasons. First, they have way more equipment than any person will every have, and variety plays a big part in total fitness. Second, spending the money on a gym is one way to motivate yourself into going, if you don't you are wasting money. Third, just seeing what other people are doing could provide you with new ideas for things or workouts to try.

I belong to two gyms (one is free through work and I already pre paid for the other one) and will never not have a gym membership again. At the same time I do my own research and don't see the need in hiring a personal trainer.

Just make sure you go look at the gym you want to join to make sure it has the equipment you want and the atmosphere you are looking for. If you want to do some spinning and use circuit machines you don't want to sign up at a gym that is 90% free weights. Once you do join make going to the gym part of your schedule just like grocery shopping and going to work. I always bring my workout bag to work on gym days and go right to the gym from work. Once you are home it is too easy to not go back out.

Good luck in whatever you choose.

Well... have you thought about a sport? Maybe tennis or racquetball? I wish my YMCA still offered racquetball... the few times I played it I really liked it. Or maybe you could find a league to play in... volleyball or kickball??

If you are interested in working out at home, you may have to have several different workout DVDs to keep things interesting. Several of us here really like the Walk Away The Pounds series. Some are definitely more interesting than others. I really like the 30 minute Walk and Jog and the 30 minutes Walk and Kick.

I know that Netflix has exercise DVDs you could rent. Your local library might have some also.

In addition to the WATP DVDs I also have the 30 day Shred (great workout, but really intense) and the Biggest Loser CardioMax and the Dancing with the Stars Latin Cardio (I only did it twice and got frustrated with my lack of coordination). It really helps to have a good selection available.

How about a Wii Fit?? I haven't used mine for a while, but the step program allows you to watch tv while you step. There are also many new exercise programs coming out to use with the balance board. DS likes to play basketball and such with me on the Wii Active game... it gets us both moving and seems more like a game than an exercise.

HTH..................P

along with WATP workout vides, I like "Total Mix" which is 10 min segments to mix up. I have done the piilates/yoga one and strength training and I really like them. Watching the 10 min tick away helps me keep my sanity ;).....for some reason approaching a workout in 10 min incriments always feels quicker

Have you changed your eating habits? Cutting back some on portion size will help you lose.

Yes, I have changed my eating habits and am trying to find stuf to interest me, but I have not. I will check out the DVDs you all have suggested. Thank you.

Do you have any outdoor bootcamp fitness programs where you are? I have tried to lose weight for years unsuccessfully. We are now doing a corporate bootcamp and I'm loving it. Working out with my friends from work and having coaches to push me has been great for me. It never gets boring and I'm now in my second 12 week session and seeing better results on the scale this session.

I've been doing yoga lately and LOVEING it!!
Wii has some fun things on it too.
