I haven't had a lot of time to read the boards for the past two weeks or so and yesterday I was playing "catch up".. I came across a thread where someone had posted that they had been banned from Disney for life !!

Can this really happen? And under what circumstances? What kind of offense would warrant such a severe punishment?

It's something I never thought of before - and certainly never heard of Disney doing to anyone.. Does anyone here actually know someone who was banned? :confused3

I'd like to know how you would enforce something like this. What would stop you from buying a ticket and just walking in?

Possibly by putting a flag on the names so if a cc is used it won't work? Maybe they post their pictures up (like a 10 most wanted list) and if anyone sees them they have to blow them in?? :confused3

I would also like to know just what you would have to do to be banned for life? It has to be pretty strong stuff to get that.

I had a really hard time believing that whole post.

Don't know the post, but I highly doubt that, LOL. :confused3 I know of folks banned for life from the DIS, LOL, who are still here. :lmao:

I don't know of anyone who has been banned, but when I was on the KTTK tour, our guide said that it is possible to be banned.

One of the examples he gave was ticket swapping. That would be when one person uses a ticket and gets in the park, then takes that same ticket and passes it out to another person, who then tries to get in the park with it.

It wouldn't even work anymore, but I could see why this would be a bannable offense if attempted.

Well if it is possible, I sure would like to see the list of offenses that would warrant such measures so I'll be sure never to break any of those rules!

Can you imagine being banned for life? I don't get there often, but wow - that would kill me!!!!

It would be unenforceable. My sister could buy me a ticket with her CC. I could use cash. The pssobilities are endless.

I'm sure they can ban you for life. But the enforcement of it would only happen if you drew attention to yourself in some way.

It would be hard to enforce, but if you got in trouble for something and they knew you were banned, you go to jail. Not worth the risk. Since they are a couple, they would have to stay off site and pay cash for everything. Again hard to carry that much cash.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt and then saw the light. He and his SO did much worse than just shoplifting $68 worth of items from DTD.

I did not read the referenced thread so I have no idea of the exact circumstances this was raised, but I bet I can find ways around the ban if I really wanted to.

I think it is possible. My cousin is banned for life from her local mall. Sure she could go in however if she is caught or does anything illegal she could go to jail for a long time. I think about her a lot now because she has a new baby. She did the crime a long time ago but will pay for it forever. How embarrassing will it be for her daughter that mom can't go to the mall. I guess it would be the same with Disney, you could still go but if you were caught there you'd be in serious trouble.

I don't think someone else buying the ticket would work because of the finger scans now - right?

Otherwise, I suppose one could stay off-site and still do the parks, but it appears that wouldn't work either.. :confused3

I would think any offense would have to be very serious as in: physically attacking a CM; defacing a ride; trashing a hotel room; holding someone hostage; grand theft; or something along those lines - don't you think?

I've heard of people shoplifting before and getting banned from that store for life. So I wonder if the original post and poster meant they were banned from the stores at DTD? Or just WOD? Saying you were banned from all of WDW sounds so much more elaborate though! :thumbsup2 :lmao:

Actually I never even knew you could be banned for life from a store for shoplifting (guess I live my life in a vacuum - LOL), but the OP of the thread I am referring to stated that they were staying on-site and received some sort of notice indicating that they were banned from all Disney property for life.. My jaw about hit the floor when I read that (and yes, it was a shoplifting incident at DTD, but a very small amount of merchandise involved).. I could see them being banned from DTD (now that I know you can in fact be banned from a store for life) - but all of Disney property? :confused3 I'm sure that many, many people have been caught shoplifting in the parks and in DTD, but I've never heard of anyone being banned for life.. Just seems to me the punishment doesn't fit the crime - but like I said, maybe I live my life in a vacuum - LOL.. :teeth:

I was "banned for life" from a certain nightclub--it was over a business deal that was totally legal and morally right, but cost the club thousands of dollars because they were greedy and I called them on it.

I didn't go back for many years, but have since been back probably half a dozen times. It's under different management, and 15 years later I don't think anybody really cares. There was no legal encumbrence to my ever returning--it was just the management at the time that told me I couldn't come back.

Wow! I guess I better make a mental note to always be on my absolute BEST behavior no matter where I go!!! :teeth: Very, very interesting to learn that you can be banned from places for life..

Going to jail for breaking the ban? I can see kicking somebody out again, but jail?

It's a finger scan for the shape of your fingers, not a finger print. So someone else can buy the ticket, or they could pay cash, and then the banned one could use it.

My DS is banned for life from a grocery store here in town that he shoplifted from. :furious: There are only two grocery stores in the whole dang town and he had to go and do that??? I'm just glad it wasn't the other one. My grandmother is married to the owner's grandfather. :rolleyes1
