I'm not sure if anyone has posted yet about the changes at Cape May but our family gives it 2 thumbs up!

They raised their prices to $23.99/pp, but added in a prime rib station. No more buckets for the mussels and clams though, which we always thought were fun :)

One thing we weren't too crazy about was the new dessert bar. They really narrowed the choices and took away the whipped cream bowl

They had battered-fried cod fish filets and the most delicious steamed green beans! :Pinkbounc

Thanks for the info! The prime rib sounds great, but disappointed about the desserts.:(

That is bad news on the desserts. I think they had the best dessert offering of a buffet we've been to.

Please tell me the chocolate dusted oreo mousse things were still there for dessert!!!!

Yep, those babies were still there :) They also had key lime pie, a few sugar cookies, flan and an odd type of cheesecake :)

I was worried about the smaller looking dessert area too but by the time I waddled up there, I really didn't want any! I think that I ate a bit of something for dessert and that it was very good. :)

Thanks for the info. Shame about the dessert choices but once I get to eating the desserts I usually am stuffed anyway!!!!

I go to the clambake to enjoy mussels and clams, not prime rib! Thumbs down from me.

Oh no hon, they still have them! It's the cute metal buckets they got rid of.

what do they put the mussells and clams in now???

My daughter grabbed a soup bowl and put them in there. I did see other people just putting them on their dinner plates though. We thought maybe they were "out" of buckets, but there was actually no place for them on the buffet table. There was a huge pot of boiled potatoes where they would normally have been.

Interesting changes at Cape May? Not sure if I will still like it? I'll let you know in Jan. after I get back!

LOL I'd never been before the changes but liked it well enough when we were there the other week. We just got soup bowls of the clams, mussels etc and put them in the middle of the table to share and used another bowl for the shells.

Yep, that's what worked for us too :) All in all, Cape May is still one of the best buffets on DW property ~

Another major change is the way they prepare the clams. and mussels They now prepare them with a garlic broth. They don't mention it but I knew right away this past March that the clams were different. When we talked to the waitress she told us about the change. She said the majority of people prefer them this way. We don't ! Our waitress told us that they will serve them just steamed if you request( no extra charge) and they did serve a lot to us:) The prime rib was great and a welcome addition. The boiled shrimp is now served hot not cold as before. Although they cut back on the dessert table, I thought there were still many wonderful selections to chose from. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Thanks for the info! We'll be eating there this coming trip!!!:teeth:

Whaaat? The peel n eat shrimp is hot? ARGH!!!!

The food was great as usual in early May but the dessert area did disappoint me as I had raved about it to aunts, cousin and sister who had not been there before and it was less than half of what it had been on prior trips. Thank goodness they still had the Oreo Bonbons though because those are the best.

My Hubby had some cold shrimp.. they were next to the salad items. Did you happen to see any of those Boardwalk Tigger? Of course, they may have been there the last week of May and gone by the first of June

Disney does changes things :)

There were no cold shrimp when we were there in March. They use to be chilled in the salad section but not in March. They were by the mussels and clams and were served hot. I actually thought they tasted a little better. They seemed to be firmer.

This could have changed again since March. Anybody else recently there? Did anyone else notice that the clams tasted different( because of the new way they are cooking them -with a garlic broth)?:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

We had both types of shrimp available.. hot and cold ~ BUT, and I do mean but, that doesn't mean they'll be available tomorrow. Our waitress told us they were still in the process of fine tuning the menu, so maybe we just happened to be there on a day when they tried both hot and cold shrimp.

I didn't really detect a taste change regarding the mussels or clams but that could be because I love garlic and hardly notice it anymore
