Not sure if this goes under "Rumor", but thought I'd post here

Any truth that its going to go into a Pixar pavillion with Toy Story and Monster inc.

Call me crazy, but I think the Futureworld side of Epcot has been less about "the future" and more about "let's see how many attractions we can put in here to make people think we are always updating, when in reality we are just throwing things up". It's moving away from it's original concept of the future.

UOE is dated. It was updated in the 90's...oK, that's already 6 years ago. What was going on in the world of energy 6 years ago may be a lot different than what is going on today.

The Living Seas. Dated. Stripped down. The sea cabs are gone. They stuck nemo in there to try and maximize their profit from their investment into that storyline...cute, but where's the "futuristic" quality?

The Land. Until they added Soarin', it, too, was becoming tired. The Living with the Land ride has been the same since my honeymoon in 1991. I first saw about hydroponic gardening when I went to WDW as a college kid in the mid 80's. I'm 44 now.

Wonders of Life. Frankly, I thought this pavillion had some of the most clever stuff. The movie with Martin Short was informative and entertaining. The Cranium Command was also quite entertaining, although they should have updated it with characters more well-known to kids these days...how many kids know "Norm" from "Cheers" and would get a kick out of him as the stomach guy??? I liked Body Wars...thought it was fairly well done. The "filler" stuff...all those little doodads that displayed hot and cold and nerves and stuff were good time killers.

TT and MS are good, but they are fairly new, and I can foresee them getting mundane pretty quickly. TT is already one that I can skip if necessary.

I don't even know what to say about Imagination. The 3D movie is ancient already. The ride is horrid.

I think the entire Futureworld side needs a re-imagining.

Well, I hate to disagree but what the heck. I love the Living Seas. Its one of my favorite attractions. I also like Figment. I agree the Land was getting boring and so is Universe of Energy. The idea I heard of making Monsters Inc's characters a part of Universe of Energy would be great. Wonders of Life stinks. Test Track and Spaceship Earth are good too. I've always enjoyed Future World for the most part.

Good post...

Which is why they were discussing scrapping the idea of Future World altogther in favor of Discovery World, I believe as part of Project Gemini. They realize that the future is outdated in 15 minutes so trying to keep attractions truly futuristic is a more difficult concept then ever before.

This is in a state of extreme makeover. I am not sure how you can draw a conclusion about whether or not the Nemo thing will be good, when you have not even seen it yet. It is dated and stripped down, but not for long...

The Land. Until they added Soarin', it, too, was becoming tired.

But they DID add Soarin, and now it is jamming with people

Perhaps I am in the minority here, but this pavilion always bored me to tears,a nd I never cared for Body Wars either. Oh well, to each his own

Well, I am not sure that I agree with that. TT will always have appeal to teens, I think, and so will MS. Now let's see what effect the new version has

Couldn't have said it better myself. But it is a good ride to take a nap on :thumbsup2

Perhaps not soon enough, but I believe this will one day happen

I hope they don't reimage Future World. If you want to call it Discovery World, fine. But I love Spaceship Earth, Innoventions, Imaginiation, Living Seas, Land, etc. I love the feel of Future World.

We've been enjoying Epcot since it opened in 1982. We still love Future World. My BIL, an engineer, visited with us a couple of years ago (1st trip and and knew none of the history) said, "Oh, wow, RETRO World! What 'future' are they talking about? It's cool, but it looks worn and a bit passe' in spots."

Many of us see Future World with an affectionately nostalgic view and want to hang on to that. My BIL's comments made me see it in a slightly different light. As much as I love it, it may be time for a major 21st century update.
