we just got our 2019-2020 school calendar and I was debating a April 2020 trip but I’m just not sure I can do the week before Easter. I can easily push it back to November 2020.... which makes me sad, but may be the better option....

Who does Easter will I hated it, is it that crowded? I also figure 2020 will be really crowded in general.

Crowds are just a fact of life these days, there's really no true slow season anymore. You just need to have the right plan and you can still have a great time. We've been when it's been "10's" across the board and still managed to have a good time. We just adapt our trip to the crowd levels. We're not park warriors though and take a long mid day siesta and stay out late and close the parks down. Plan your park visit days and FastPasses and you can still have a good time.

Easter week is fine in my opinion.
Crowded? Sure but to me its like whatever so its crowded. If that's when I can go that's when I will go.
Only you know yourself.

Easter is crowded, for sure, but don't underestimate how busy November can be, too, especially around Wine & Dine (Jersey week) and Thanksgiving.

With Easter, you have the benefit of nice weather and Flower & Garden at Epcot, too. I think it's a lovely time to visit. Of course, holiday decorations will be popping up in November, if you prefer that atmosphere.

We did March Spring Break last year, and overall, I found it very manageable if you make it to rope drop and plan out your FPs accordingly.

Totally, we have been at a bunch of different times in the last 7 years, I’m
Just not sure a holiday week is what I want to deal with.... is it that much more crowded

I have a few options and Easter week and Jersey week are two of them for 2020....

Well I rain of course it would be Jersey week ;)! I just am not sure if Jersey week or Easter week will be better for us. I am leaning towards Jersey week, I just have this impression that Easter week is going to be insane!

My brother and SIL went two years ago at Easter and even though they are experienced spring break Disney goers, they said never again (and have started going in August). The 2 weeks that surround Easter seem to be higher than the rest of spring break time. I have never been to Disney in Nov but we go to Universal then and the weather is really nice.

I think Disney is working to be sure there are no real down times any more.
Easter weekend will be busy, but manageable.
With SWGE having opened a few months before, it will probably be busier.
Just go in with a plan, and expect it to be busy.

Agreed and I understand that. I just feel like the week before Easter v Jersey week or the last week in August, Easter week is going to be more crowded.

Your break is the week before easter? Ours is the week after. I wonder which is worse? Or are they about the same. Hmmmm...

Yeah we are the week before in 2020, i am not 100% positive that’s when ours always is. I think we spoke about going in April a few weeks ago.... I’m juts not positive I want to try it, we shall see

Check out easyWDW. Right now he's got a post with the 2018 weeks ranked by wait time. Easter week had average waits of 60 mins and Jersey week was either 34 or 38 mins (I'm not sure which early Nov week it was last year). That's not an insignificant difference.

I was just reading this and thinking the same thing. Still crowded but that’s a pretty big difference!

Because of where Passover falls in 2020, many northeast school districts will be off the week leading up to Easter then. My kids go to Catholic school and a couple of years back it fell the same way so we went down the day after Easter and crowds were great.

Yep. You can say that Disney is more crowded than it used to be and that's probably completely true. You can say that there are no times when you'll have walk on rides in the afternoon, no doubt. But when the least crowded weeks have wait times that are half as long as the most crowded weeks, there is still a difference worth knowing about imo.

Passover is the April 8-16 so it really depends on the school, some will give the week before and some will give the week after. Easter is the 12.

Exactly! You said this perfectly! I get there is no ‘slow’ time but half as long a wait is a huge difference.

I’m kinda over there is no slowtime mantra, I get it I do, but no slow time doesn’t mean all weeks are created equal, some are still better then others.

I did the week leading up to Easter once, 1999. I said never again.

First off it was chilly. Shorts for day time but in the evening we wore jeans some nights (FL+Me=no winter, fall or early spring attire).

We arrived on a Saturday, it was the day my husband proposed to me. Crowds were fine until about Wednesday and then Thursday I said this is getting crazy. I had never left a park before closing but the Saturday night, Easter eve, it was crazy! At about 10 I said let’s leave. I was so sad but I said never again on or around a holiday. Give me the heat of summer!

Yeah we were talking in the Aug 2019 thread. I guess I just assumed we had that same week off when we were chatting being from NJ and NY but my wife actually has the Thurs and Fri before Easter off and then that following entire week.

The earlier in the year Easter falls, the worse the crowds. When Easter falls later in April it is more separated from many region's spring break calendars. Essentially, in those years, there is an extended spring break season at WDW, with the crowds spread out more so it isn't as crazy. In 2020, Easter fall on April 12th, so crowds the week before Easter are likely to overlap more with the standard spring break group than the week after.
