Not sure $149 Disney After Hrs event is doing well... (ETA: reviews in 1st post)

It would be 149 on top what I already paid. It is a hard party ticket.

You enter the park at 7 pm and it is over at 1 am. That is hardly a deal. There is not enough ice cream for that.

I misunderstood, I was thinking you meant you wouldn't get this if you had one day, not that you wouldn't get it if you already had a one day pass.

7 to 1 is still 6 hours in the park, plenty of time for lots of ice cream and for many people the perfect amount of time to spend in the park. I don't think I've ever spent more than 7 hours there anyway so if it was till 2AM it would be the same, and 3 hours of it being almost empty is priceless to me.

There is not enough ice cream to justify that obscene amount of money. My family can afford this but WE REFUSE to pay it. Enough is enough.

Oh I see them raising the price of the Halloween & Xmas Party tickets to keep inline for the exclusiveness.
Regarding your first comment- that's for your personal situation. We all travel different lengths of stays/party sizes/priority attractions. So, your way is not the target market. And that's ok..that's why there is an extremely limited amount of tickets.

The party's are not so limited ticket amounts, and focus more on all travelers, short or long stay, big or small group, all ages.

Edited to add- I think the resort prices are obscene amounts of money, Disney in general is obscene amounts of money. I can't remember a time when it wasn't ..

Might be time for some to step away from the computer. Seems to be folks on both sides far too vested in proving the feelings of internet strangers wrong.

Agreed!

I like the ones that quit the thread multiple times already...:fish:

Folks need to relax. Criticism of Disney is not criticizing you personally. I know Fan is short for Fanatic, but some of the defensive responses are just so over the top...

Hi! :)
I'm at my office..and bouncing back and forth on disboards...awesome way to spend a Saturday isn't it! Hopefully yours is a little more fun..I can't wait til I can go out and enjoy this weather!

I think there is a discussion going on about the $149 DAH...I could be wrong..but that's what I thought. Maybe digs are more fun for some?

I understand you think its an obscene amount of money. I don't, I think $150 for 6 to 7 hours in the park, 3 of them nearly empty it would be worth it for my family. Different strokes.

Except it wouldn't be $150 for your family. The only one paying $150 would be a solo traveler.

$150 as opposed to $110 per one day ticket is worth it for my family, regardless of the amount of tickets I purchased.

For my family of 2 it would be less than $100 to choose this option over a 1 day ticket. Would we do a 1 day ticket? Only in strange cases, like our next trip when using some non expirining tickets, but even with a 2-3-4 day ticket it's not that huge of a jump.
When I think of how much money I spend on chipotle or panera while working it doesn't seem like so much lol

Oh I agree that some folks might/do find it worth the $150. My main issue is that they are running LESS park hours vs prior years, even though attendance continues to climb and more and more attractions are shuttered which funnels more people into less attractions (not going to debate the ultimate merit of the closures, just the short term crowd impact).

Disney Parks (parks only) made $3,000,000,000 PROFIT last year. Not revenue.... PROFIT. Until they get those new attractions open they should help alleviate crowds by at LEAST having the same general park hours as prior years, not cutting them and putting in a pay for event. If they had at least the same general hours available and then tacked this paid event on I would not care but that is NOT what they have done.

Sorry, I would not pay this If I only had a one day pass. Enough is enough with the greediness. I refuse to pay a obscene amount of money on a vacation.
Nobody needs to attend DAH. Any cost considered obscene by the potential purchaser is a bad choice for that individual.

Disagree. I don't believe seasonal party prices will increase dramatically, or even that DAH is any kind of test for those.

If all the ticket price included were ice cream and soda, I might agree. Twenty-five attractions and several characters, with free cooling refreshments, are worth the price to several posters here, and at least a few hundred travelers in or arriving in Orlando over the six week limited run.
Except it wouldn't be $150 for your family. The only one paying $150 would be a solo traveler.
It's completely conceivable that the poster you quoted is aware the cost is per person, just like any other park or event ticket.

But maybe they want to make $4B profit next year. ;)

Has Disney ever cancelled something after it was announced and sold? I know they've dropped things after the announced scheduled dates but I honestly can't recall a time where they've cancelled something and issued refunds based on lack of interest.

Didn't they cancel some of their dessert parties or some such event at Epcot? I seem to recall people being contacted and rescheduled so they could drop some nights.

Sure but if you do the back of the napkin math real quick... if they run this event 50 times a year it's like .065% increase in profit (1000 PAID attendees per night and 25% margin) :charac2:

I really think it's more of a testing grounds to see what they can get away with because up to this point they had not hit the ceiling.

Was that the Wine Down after hours thing?

And that is OK in my book! More money to spend on Star Wars in HS!!!

I would be in favor of it if I thought it meant they would upgrade a park expansion instead of cutting back, as seems to be the standard these days.

Since they just made a bunch of cuts in a time of record profit and attendance, I'm afraid I don't have faith that more profits directly correlates to more spending in the parks.

That sounds right. I believe people were booked and paid, then contacted by Disney to choose another night so they could slim down their list of event dates.
