Not sure $149 Disney After Hrs event is doing well... (ETA: reviews in 1st post)

Yep, and if 50,000 seats sell. Or 49,700 seats sell, and the rest given away for free- the result is the same.

With WDW is same... how can you possibly, logically, intelligently, ask for a refund? What are they refunding you for? Because someone got a free ticket?
I can't board that train of thinking.

Can you think of any company who could successfully pull that off?

Imagine, if 95% of the tickets were FREE and 5% were pricy expensive for similar seats, do you really think any company would ever make it through that PR nightmare?

I don't object to perks for DVc. I own it. But let's be honest. It isn't the same. And people would be justified in asking for refunds for an exclusive event. If only 5% paid for the exclusive perk--it wasn't so exclusive and could be considered fraudulent advertising/bait and switch. The customer would be completely justified in obtaining a refund.

That's if such a crazy ratio occurred. Because you could not possibly justify 95% people attending for free as being exclusive for the 5%.

No, but I'm saying that if the event undersold, Disney had a few choices. One of which is to cancel the event and refund everyone their money. If I was on a long weekend with my best friend and had bought tickets for this event to spend some of the limited time we have together at Disney World riding space mountain until we threw up mickey bars and we had been looking forward to it, I PERSONALLY would prefer for Disney to choose an option that allows them to remain open so we can ride space mountain until we throw up mickey bars.

I understand. :)

I DO, however, wish Disney would stop giving free tickets to the event, because two nights in, you can ALREADY see it setting up feelings of expectation on this board, which is followed by people being disappointed and angry over the fact someone got something they did not. So now we'll not only have people complaining about the event and the supposed loss of benefit hours Disney had given in the past, we'll have people complaining that OKW got the free tickets this time instead of the Poly, and people trying to come up with strategies for getting comped tickets. And then, when Disney takes away the comped tickets, we'll have people mad that Disney has taken those away.

I agree with this a million times!!

I was there last night with my wife and daughter. My daughter turned 12 at midnight and we had an awesome time, was great to be in the park with virtually no other guests. I managed to snap a picture of the walkway between small world and peter pan with ZERO people in the photo, its sweet. I could not care less if some people got it for free as there were no lines anyway so free tickets had no effect on our enjoyment. Only issue was that my wife and I both agreed it will be hard to come back during regular hours again :)

So glad you enjoyed your daughter's birthday! I turned 25 at midnight at Disney and it was awesome.

This is honestly incredible to me!! Take this to an extreme, and a gift certificate would have to be given to every American. Why stop there?! Why not issue them to the 7+ billion people on the planet!? I mean, there would be no good reason not to...

Have you been to Kohl's lately? All those coupons for their card holders, yet every single time if I don't have a couple or use my Kohl's charge, they give me a discount anyway with a coupon at the register.

It's because the prices already account. For these "discounts".

They do NOT need to justify their actions. It is THEIR business. They do not owe you anything beyond whatever it is that you decide to purchase.

This is crazy.

I don't know what you do for a living, but why would any business agree to do that? There is no logic in it. There is absolutely no business sense in it. If someone is the benefactor of an "extra" it has nothing to do with you, and they do not owe you the same.

They do if they falsely advertise an event and change the parameters. We don't know the numbers.

If 10% got in free, that is a perk.

If 90% got in free, then It was false advertising of an exclusive event that wasn't exclusive at all.

Companies owe much explanation to their consumers.

Once again you are not comparing apples to apples.

Free tickets were not advertised. They were given to select people.

Macy's coupons are COUPONS.
Not a gift certificate for a certain person.

We are miles apart on our sense of business and what people are entitled to.

Good luck in asking for refunds for a service that you received..
A refund that you claim is due because someone else received something special..
Not because something was advertised...
Not because you didn't get what you paid for..
but solely because you think that they owe you.

It isn't entitlement.

Companies cannot do fraudulent advertising or bait and switch. Many companies perform price adjustments of a product goes on sale for whatever reason.

Your comments don't match the reality of the world of customer service. It has nothing to do with entitlement.

This is what I've been saying! To the people who seem to think it will be such a negative impact on their vacation--it is actually helping the crowds..not creating them.

Logic lives!!!!! Woot woot!! ;)

As has been proven over, and over, and over again... park hours are less this year than prior years. In place of some of those lower hours they have added "Extra" pay events. Crowds(as far as we know and all data up to a few months ago confirms) continue to rise as do prices.. dramatically. So when crowds are HIGHER, you have shut down several attractions, and you have lessened the hours the park is available to the general crowds, how in any logical way is that "actually helping crowds"?

:fish:

Once upon a time gas cost 99 cents..

Omg when does it stop.

Some people still love Disney. Some of us still feel it's magical.

If you don't, then don't go. But why spread so much negativity?

When Forbes and Bloomberg actually call your company out for being greedy, you know you have crossed the line. Guess which company both sites recently called greedy?

Except Disney isn't advertising "exclusive", they are advertising "limited guests." Even if 90% get in free (which would be absurd), they are still providing paying customers with little-to-no waits. See below for an excerpt from the website:

Except for the $149 ice cream and sodas, this is strikingly similar to the ads for free EMH.

I guess that part about "purchase yours today" was what confused people.

They've edited them now, but I get your point. We like late night touring and I'm quite frustrated with the now very limited options that don't require us to pay extra.

I've got some really bad news. When I go in a week or so, if I'm given free tickets to this event, I'm going to have 2 strollers; can't leave the 3 and 5 year old in the room alone. Sorry.

Back to the 95/5% free to paid guest radio--limited would still be false advertising if they discovered they weren't selling out and instead turned it into a limited DVc member engagement.

Of course we don't know the ratio of paid tickets to free tickets.

But if most guests got in free---that would be a problem.

But I just don't see how it was false advertising? It's frustrating for those who paid to learn someone got something free that he/she paid for, but the person who paid still got exactly what they paid for.
