Not So Short Mostly Sweet-24 Days At Disney

I must offer apologies for the errors I made in posting this last segment. I evidentially copies the wrong url's in Photobucket. Also I am not sure of the morality of posting other folks great pics. I snag pics here and there for my collection and other than the ones that have the owner's names on the pics I have no idea who I 'borrowed' them from. If I have committed an unpardonable sin please let me know and I will cease and desist immediately.

I am the one in this family who can run the camera and I get sorely tired of seeing everything through a viewfinder so I did not take many of my own pics this last trip. Some days it is literally all I can do to do the basics let alone anything extra. If you see me and my eyes are rolling back in my head do not, I repeat, do NOT get behind me. Steer me toward the nearest seat and run for cover!!!:rotfl:

DisneyJo, I did all the basic writing in one fell swoop one very long day. I keep a notebook with details written down to jog my memory. I remember those long ago days when we ONLY went for two weeks. Actualy two weeks is pretty much the perfect time IMO.

Poohtigeey.a Buckeye, huh?? That explains a lot. Do you know the definition of a Buckeye?? = = = A worthless nut. I can say this to you cause I are one too. Athens. ;)

LovableGluttons,I gots style??? Who would have thunk? Never been tarred with that brush before. :dance3:

IloveDMB, the middle part was a dream but that drive down and back was a nightmare at times. Flying carpets is what we need. :woohoo:

kismet1003, honeychile, MORE is what I am. Verbosity is my wont. :rolleyes1

Almost feeding time at the zoo. Have to run.

Hey Linda, signing up for the ride, can't wait to read more.

24 days huh, I would love that!

Jo, once upon a time, six years ago, there was a thread started where information on the infamous EWP was exchanged. Somehow, (seems to happen on an awful lot of threads I am on) we got off topic and were 'politely' told to go elsewhere so I went over to the CB and set up a small room where other OT type folks could gather and discuss any old thing we wanted. :rotfl: We have never had massive numbers of members but we are a loyal group and I have met pretty much most of them in person at one time or another. Several happen to also be Hoosiers like myself. One I met in a very unusual way. We were chatting on a DIS thread and noted that we were both from the same state. Being a tad bit careful (hard to believe huh??) I do not openly state what town I live in so we went private and it turned out that she lived 15 miles from me BUT she worked in the tiny town that I live in. Turns out that we both were working in the school system too. She wanted to meet in person and I am agreeable and told her to come by the next time she was in town. She WAS in town. Where? The library. I typed quickly and told her to look out the back window and wave. Magic or what??:wizard: We have had a couple of mini meets but have never all gotten together at the same time as we all live very different lives. They are as dear to me as some of the folks that I done give birth to and not nearly as much trouble. :rotfl: Come on by. We have long ago given up the pretense of a virtual Suite overlooking the lagoon with all sorts of privileges and such and just are comfortable with each other and check in when we can and forgive when we cannot.

At the time I got on the original thread, and for a considerable time after I was the only one who had never seen the EWP. Now it is a tradition that I never miss and have had Suite Gals call me from the beach to share the experience with me. Brings tears to my eyes to think about such lovely ladies.

Ask a gal a simple question and get a book. If the gal is me at least. :rotfl2:

puggymom, no need for restraints. Thrill rides are not my thing. The small pleasures of life are all I can handle nowadays but they are the best any old who. :woohoo:

Love your report! Your writing style makes me smile. :)

The "read" bracelets are great! My DD would love that - can they be purchased somewhere?

Looking forward to more. :thumbsup2

Hi! I'm still here even though you called me a buckeye!:rolleyes1 Great installment! I homeschool too, and we just visited the Creation Museum in Kentucky. Very interesting stuff. They actually say that the earth is 6000 yrs old, and scientists are not very happy with this museum! You're such a friendly gal, I'll have to be on the look out for you in December! I'll be the crazy NUT with 2 kids sporting my lime green Mickey heads!:thumbsup2

BTW, mkluvsmickey and I started a thread on the CB for that same reason!

The darned football game ran late so that means my shows are running late. Not that I actually WATCH them. They are sort of the background music to my life. I also own at least a dozen or so VCR's, 5 of which are actually hooked up, and I know how to use 'em too - so there is no excuse except I am too darned tired to climb the stairs to go to bed. Excuses, excuses. I am full of them and a few other things too.:lmao:

Poohtigeey, you poor dear Buckeye. I have been one far longer than you and I have survived it. Heck, I even wear shoes occasionally. What part are you from? Up where they have jobs and stuff I bet. Truth is that scientists do not KNOW squat. They are just guessing like the rest of us but just have a bit more information. My belief is that science is just man's way of trying to understand God but then what do I know?? I also think everyone is entitled to their beliefs too. :thumbsup2 BTW, why did you not wave at me as you passed by on the way to the museum? You done hurt me wittle feelings. :sad2: Guessing you might live in the Cincy area?

mkluvsmickey, I just did a search to see if I could buy more of those bracelets in bulk. Tomorrow I will search some more. So you and Poohtigeey hang out together?? Which one of you is the one who leads the other astray? Just curious.

I am not hard to find. One person in September actually called me obvious. The truth hurts but I just cannot stand walking by a fellow DISer and not recognizing each other. I am like Blanche Dubois. Well, not in EVERY way. Just the stranger part. Come to think of it, how DID she mean that? I am going to go contemplate my navel and that question for about 8 hours and let you know what I come up with later. zzzzzzz

Thanks! As for who leads who astray......Hmmmmmm......I'd say Monica (Poohtigeey)! :rotfl:

Oh good, another pick on Monica thread. Love those!:rolleyes1

Yes we're Cincy area. However, we have jobs and DH says I own way too many shoes! Maybe you're thinking of Kentucky... I agree w/ your science views. The museum is very interesting and convincing. They also state proof so who knows!

I hope we meet. We're super excited about this trip. We haven't been since '04 and DD hasn't been before. She'll be turning 2 at the World!

It's about time missy !!!

I have been waiting "not" so patiently to read allllllllll about our trip..

Miss you Linda..:flower3: can't wait to read on popcorn::

keliblue..

Great report so far! :thumbsup2 I love the bracelet too. I'm the boring aunt that gives books instead of more toys but as you know reading is so much fun! Looking forward to more. popcorn::

You sly devil! :lmao: I didn't know you were doing a trip report! Did you mention that in one of our e-mails? :confused3 What an unexpected delight to come across the beginning of your trip report tonight. :goodvibes You have such a great way of sharing a story I can't wait to read more!

Hugs!

09/11/07 I try to mix it up with an easy park the day after one of the big parks. Someday you youngsters will understand the need for ‘less speed’. :rolleyes1

The Great Movie Ride is always our first stop. It is not as easy to bypass the long lines as it used to be though and since I tend to get shorter and shorter if I have to stand still for any length of time we did not visit this attraction near as often. I always enjoy it though. I love old movies, especially the old movies. Musicals the most! Monty Python and anything by Mel Brooks tickles my funny bone. On one trip through the GMR we sat up front and the driver was an extra in one of the movies that is shown at the end. L&M tends to enjoy looking at the floorboards of each attraction while thinking of past meals and wondering how long until the next one. Everyone has to have a life’s passion. I can longer go through this ride without thinking of Janet2K and her progressive meal she had in this attraction. I was lucky enough to be at DW when she was there doing all those fantastic things and we shared a couple of Spectromagic parades and the fireworks together. Amazing woman!!

Having worked up an appetite on the Movie Ride we wandered down to the Commissary. Free Dining is an excellent opportunity to try places that you might otherwise not for fear of wasting hard earned dollars. The Commissary was alright. Sure tip off that it was less than stellar was the ample opportunity to find a table. I tried the Cuban Sandwich
CommissaryCubanSandwich.jpg

that I had often read about. I liked it but then being carb deprived anything resembling bread thrills me beyond belief and when it is also toasted in butter and has cheese it is downright heavenly. L&M loved the Chicken Curry
CommissaryVegetableNoodleStirFry.jpg

and would like that again. I had the chocolate mousse but found myself envying L&M’s strawberry parfait.

The Stunt Show has changed a bit and we enjoyed it as always. I love details and can see something over and over again and see something different. Figuring out how things work, or do not, has kept me married for decades. :rotfl: Still working on that one. The Garcia family kept me company while waiting for the afternoon parade to arrive on the steps over by Drew Carey, our favorite parade spot. They were from Houston and I gave them my card with info on how to become a DISer. Some kind soul on here once posted a site where you could download Disney themed cards and customize them so I include our names, state and then the DIS url. It saves me from writing it over and over and over again.

Learning from past mistakes I used two snack credits for some iced teas while we were visiting. Last year I nearly fell over from being dehydrated as I did not want to ‘waste’ snack credits and ended up with enough left to give each person in our tiny town a treat. :wizard:

A friend had insisted that we would enjoy the Animators so we dutifully went to see what it was all about. Nearly did not get in as we were near the end of the line and a lady whose daughter was an avid artist was going to be turned away and I was willing to give up my place for such a good cause but the CM put a couple of more chairs up front so we all could get in. I did a passable Pooh but would not do this one again. I already know that I can follow instructions and copy most anything. Unfortunately original art is where the money is. Also, I am not so good at painting ceilings.

We had eaten at Prime Time previously and went back again. I love the Boursin cheese and fruit appetizer and could make an entire meal from that alone.
Primetimecheeseandtoastvariation.jpg

I chose to have a Strawberry Smoothie YUM!
StrawberrySmoothie-1.jpg

instead of yet another chocolate dessert. Who would have thunk it possible to get tired of chocolate?? I had the top sirloin steak
PrimeTimeTopSirloin.jpgas

I knew my L&M had ordered poorly and would still be hungry. And the man complains that I do not take good care of him. How many wives do you know who plant night blooming flowers for their second shift husband to see when they returned home from work?) L&M had the Pork Tenderloin,
PTGrilledPorkTenderloin.jpg

Shrimp Cocktail and Apple Cobbler. Onion Rings are a required side dish.

We headed down toward the stadium for the closing program in spite of threatening skies. You gotta have faith, lots and lots of faith. Did not work one bit though. Fantasmic was rained out but I drive to MGM and was parked near the front so it was not nearly as hard to get out of the rain and head toward our resort. When I got back to the room I was overwhelmed as someone or several someones had been by and left copious amounts of LGM as well as other colors. I had decorated our door and window in true DIS style as one of the threads I hang on had suggested and since our room was right across from the food court I had a lot of foot traffic. Just wish more folks had left their names as there were so many to thank this trip. I nearly needed another piece of luggage for my loot!

09/12/07 A breakfast buffet at Boma’s started out our AK day. I am not much of a breakfast eater, as I have said previously, so you have to take my review in that context. Breakfast food is breakfast food and there was not much different to be found here. All things considered if I was paying OP I would just as soon go to our sturdy standby, Golden Corral, up by Crossroads. $5 and it includes your beverages. They also make omelets to order. Glad we tried it once but doubt it would be done again, OP or DP either. I do like the dinner buffet but just cannot eat enough to justify the cost. I tell you living with an all you CAN eat fellow while I am a ‘can I afford the calorie” type person is difficult. BTW, your stomach does shrink when you diet for a long time. I am grateful. (108 pounds gone and some more waiting) Make that 110 pounds of Tuesday.:cheer2:

I took a detour to AK to make sure I knew how to get to POP Century since there was a Meet the next evening. Easy, even for me but then everything looks different, to me, after dark. Gassed the car up for the rest of our Disney wanderings. Disney gas is cheaper, far cheaper than any other gas around. I am guessing that they want to keep us on property where we are not tempted to spend any of our money elsewhere. Smart, very smart. Everyone complains about how much gas it costs to drive there but we save so much on not driving nearly as much on property as we do at home to more than make up for the drive down and back. This only applies to folks who stay for long trips though. :woohoo:

Tom was feeling a bit feverish so we canceled our AK plans and I took him back to the room where he promptly fell asleep for the rest of the day. When he woke up I went up to the food court that evening to get him something to eat. He must have been feeling pretty badly as he did not eat nearly as much as usual. Instead of eating his food AND most of mine he only ate his. :)

The folks at the counter were so very unfriendly except for one young fellow named Tom. Made the experience a lot better. I was good and got a fruit bowl instead of a dessert to have for breakfast the next morning. Usually I just drink my veggies, in the form of a can of V-8. My steak salad was pretty lame. Quote the Raven “Nevermore”!

I had meant to post this last night but I got sidetracked. i would tell you by what but since some of you nearly nominated me for the Nobel Peace Prize for giving a fellow DISer a FP that I did not need I would be afraid of sainthood for my actions of the past few days and I certainly do not need that kind of pressure!! :rotfl:

I have a busy day tomorrow too but I will try to work a bit on a report for tomorrow. I need to post a couple of days at a time to make it by Friday. Keep in mind that I am also packing, cleaning, doing Christmas cards and a million other things. Did I tell you I was also old and slow?????:dance3:

Slightly Goofy/Linda

Please forgive me in that I did not reply to all of your kind notes, and some ornery ones, but I simply am swamped.

Being the lovely people that you are I am sure that you will forgive me, especially the folks who know me well and the others do not not where I live so I am safe. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I am so bad!! I am too old to change and more likely to get worse. As that 'adorable' girl on Kid Nation says "Deal with it!!" If I were her mom I would give her something to deal with, for sure, for sure. I feel for the kid. I do, I do.

SG/Linda

mkluvsmickey, correction please. It is now 110#'s and I worked awfully hard for those 2 pounds as I did for every ounce. :rotfl: I even managed a 2 pound loss while at DW on that famous 24 day trip. I would have been happy breaking even.

Thanks, SG

mkluvsmickey, so true. Just think of how many Mickey bars I had to forgo to accomplish that. :rotfl:

Going to bed now. I am tired, worn out and frazzled. Lots to do tomorrow. as always.

Good night all!

SG

Way to go on 110#! :woohoo: I am trying to get back on the horse but having a hard time. :guilty: Hopefully when DH retires, we can vacation for 24 days, although I'd miss the cats! Your prospective of a couple with no kids TR is great.
