After reading Cali-D's comments about the housekeeping/room condition at the Grand I had to post my recent (June) experience too.We were also in a room in Sago Key.This trip was for our 15th anniversary and while we stay at the Grand a lot it was still a big deal for us.After spending the day in the park we went back to the room to shower and change for dinner.I decided to rest for a minute and pulled off the blanket on the bed.Well there was a rather large and scarey looking stain looking back at me.Okay these things happen (deep breath) I call housekeeping and ask for a new blanket-no problem.I then take the blanket off and still wanting to lay down pull back the sheets.(Now I feel I should mention here that the sheets themselves were so ratty and threadworn that I would have been embaressed to have them in my rag bag)When I pulled back the sheets there was a very long black hair waiting for me.At this point my husband got on the phone with housekeeping and I'm not sure what he said but I know that he told them he wanted the entire bedding changed and they were at the door in less than 10 minutes.A supervisor had come along to see just what the problem was and she was very apologetic. When they started stripping the bed my husband was helping and when he pulled his pillowcase off his pillow it had a huge dried blood stain on it.Well you can imagine the look on the supervisiors face-she looked like she was going to fall over. I was still trying to salvage my Anniversary so I tried not to make a scene although this really was quite upsetting. We have stayed at the Grand yearly since it opened but I think this is it for me for awhile. At the prices they are getting I don't think the problems we had should be an issue.I did write a letter to the executive offices because we felt someone should know about this.Their response was to give me a "special executive reservation number" and the next time we stay a Supervisor will check the room out and make sure its perfect.I don't need perfection but a sanitary bed would be nice.We had a nice trip anyway but for our Dec.stay have booked Poly Concierge!

Oh, I am sorry you experienced a less than stellar room, too, just like CaliforniaDreaming. I am glad that the problem was taken care of as soon as your husband brought it to their attention. And I am glad that you did not let it ruin your vacation. I remember reading something similar to this regarding a few of the WDW resorts this past year or so. I pray that your upcoming Poly trip is magical.

We also stayed in Sago Cay in May of this year when we went. DH really wanted to stay at the GF...I was expecting something really spectacular for the price that the charge (even after discounts!), but I can't honestly say that I thought that it was that great. Honestly, we stayed in the Wilderness Lodge in 1997 and I must say that that hotel was much nicer, had better housekeeping, and was just better overall in my experience. I am sorry that you had such a gross experience on your trip...I can't say that we had anything yucky like that happen while we stayed at the GF, but I can say that it didn't live up to my expectations and that if we go to WDW again in the future, we won't stay at the GF.

It seems as if I have been hearing more of these type of stories lately...makes you wonder what Disney is doing different:confused:

A light was out over our sinks at PO-R, it really didn't effect the lighting and I wanted to see if housekeeping ever noticed it. We stayed for 11 days and it was never replaced:confused:

Okay, my skin is crawling. Boy, I wouldn've freaked out at that situation! Everytime I go to a hotel, I inspect the bed before using it. I always take the bedspread off, and I rip everything else back and look real closely. The whole idea of dirty bed lines totally grosses me out. Yikes! I'm sorry things were such a nightmare, and if I were you, I'd want some type of compensation from them. It sounds like you've been very diplomatic and patient.
