I am currently in Disney - staying at Pop Century. I just have to tell this story with the hopes that others make a call to complain when a complaint is due. Walt himself would agree....
After a long day that started at 8am I found myself standing in the dreaded long, long line at the Magic Kingdom at 10:45pm waiting for the Pop Century bus to come. My legs and feet are killing me, my mother in-law can hardly stand anymore because of her arthritis and I am sure everyone else in the line was feeling the end of the day pain as well and dying for that bus to hurry and get there to bring us back to our hotel.
While in line, Transportation has a bus greeter person there to help maintain order and get people on the buses as orderly as possible. I can appreciate this. This greeter person though, decides it would be comical to announce to everyone in line that there was Royalty amongst us and they are invited to cut ahead of everybody and get into the front of the line so they could board the buses before the rest of the Weary, the grumpy, the rest of us people frustrated to hear his stupidity in line. He then pulls out those cute little girls dressed in the fancy Princess Garb like Tinkerbell, Jasmine, Belle, etc., etc.
I can certainly appreciate what this moron was trying to do by giving these little princess's a taste of Disney Hospitality and the whole royal treatment. And although I was cranky, tired, frustrated by his dumb comedic routine - I would have just let this go and think how sweet that he made these little ones feel so special - BUT.......
Like myself, no one in line saw anything special about what he was doing. As he pulled out the few with the fancy hairdo's, fancy make up, and fancy outfits, He told one little girl who was dressed like a Pirate Princess that Pirates were bad so she was not allowed to get in the front like the other princesses and those other little girls who were dressed up to the best their parents could probably afford with lower budgets also was not allowed and I stood there looking as those little girls asking their mother why he didn't think they were princesses too and why couldn't they get in the front of the line like the other girls. I listened to one parent try to explain the best she could to her child that she was a Princess too and was just important as those others with the fancy outfits, and fancy make up, and fancy hairdo's.
Yes I was tired, yes I was dying to get back to my room and yes I did not appreciate that this bozo thought he was all powerful to do such a thing not only to me, not only to my family, not only to all the other people in line who felt that this guy was just horrible for making these other girls feel like they are not special like those with the $300.00 Couture Princess looks - I was beside myself. I could have waited for 5 buses and it would not have been as bad as it was to watch this guy make these children feel like they were not special too.
If he just kept his mouth shut and boarded us all the same on the buses as they arrived and maybe said goodnight Princess to those few that he favored because they stuck out more than the others it would not have been so bad.
When I arrived back at my hotel I went to the front desk and told them what happened and asked that they get me in touch with a manager in Transportation so I could explain the situation so that this guy would not put anyone else through this horrible experience. They was able to get me in touch with Transportation and the Transportation manager assured me that this was absolutely wrong of this bozo to do this to these kids ecspecially during what they call "exit time."
I can only hope the other parents that had to explain to their kids that even though they were not allowed to go to the front of the line and be treated like a princess, that they too were a princess - I can only hope that they made a call too. This type of thing should just not happen to a kid. Specially a kid who come from a family with a lower income.
In the end the Transportation manager was extremely nice, called me right away and could not beleive this horror story I was telling him. I truly beleive that he will do all he can to make sure Bozo is not on the loose doing this to kids in the future. I just hope this story makes anyone realize that dramatic complaints are just stupid and a waste of everyones time - but a complaint like this is extremely important for you all to take the time to make such a call when you see something like this happen.
Sure we all get tired at the end of the day and we all have to wait like anyone else to use the great transportation service that Disney provides for us - but if it is not right - they deserve the opportunity to correct it - so make a call when it is needed.
To end this story - I want to tell you that I did suggest to the transportation manager that Bozo get a job at the Bippity Boppity Boutique and is made to wear a dress himself!
Thanks for allowing me to vent my displeasure!
