Hi there,
I have posted another thread about potty training DS and someone there mentioned that there are non-automatic flushing toilets throughout the park. Does anyone know where they are just in case DS is fearful of the auto ones?

I know about the ones in the baby care center. She said that there were others too.

Thanks!

I'm not sure, but if you take some post-it notes & put them over the sensor, they won't flush while the kiddo's on there.:) That's probably easier than trying to make it to the non-auto toilets.

The same poster that told me about the non-autos told me about the post its...and I was planning on bringing a big cup like they use in the kindergarten in my school...I think you're right...forget the non-autos and just use post-its!

The ones in the Baby Care Centers are the only ones I know about. It was worth going out of our way to use them just for the cleanness, peace/quiet, and the fact that my kids weren't terrified to use them.

Also...If you dont have any post-its on hand...this is what I did with DD....I sat on the toliet right behind her that way it wouldnt flush until she was off and a safe distance away. The first time the auto potty flushed on her she was terrified to use it again.....it took me holding her on the potty to reassure her that it wouldnt happen again...

We told our kids they are Mickey's Magical Toliets and sometimes Goofy gets a bit Goofy and flushes them before your done.

They were fine with that :thumbsup2

I LOVE THAT!!!!! How cute! I am definitely printing this thread up before I go!

I always forget the post-its, so I've discovered if you just hang some TP over it, that works too!

When we first went w/ DD who was 3.5 at the time she too was terrified. I stood at the back of the stall and put my hand over the sensor til she was finished.

The next time we went (a year later), she didn't particularly enjoy them but tolerated it and wasn't terrified.

Now she's a little over 6.5 and it dosn't phase her.

I think using the restrooms at WDW are a good way to get them accustomed to using these types of toilets. They're not quite as common in the "real world" so having a whole vacation of using auto toilets could just be enough to get them over the hump! I wouldn't have gone out of my way to find the ones that don't auto flush - if your kid's gotta go, they gotta go!!! :)

I agree. I just put my hand over the sensor for DD. (She's five and still hates those darn auto flushes!)

ha hahaha:rotfl2:

brings back memories!....out of 5 kids, only one was terrified of the toilets at Disney. He is the same one who once watched me flush a milliped bug, then was afraid the bug would somhow come back and reach up and pinch him!!:lmao:

I used the Post-It notes when we went to Disney, or I just put my hand near the sensor.

*When at Target this weekend, DD3 had to make a potty stop. The toilet flushed before she finished. She looked up at me and said, "This is just like Disney World!". I never thought of Target like that before, but...o.k!;)

ha-ha, I never thought of Target like that either...I mean, I love Target, but it's no Disney!

I always kept a tiny pad of post it notes in my diaper bag -- sruck a post it note over the sensor anytime/anywhere there was a auto flush toilet (the mall, etc)

When she's done, remove the sticky note.
