Not ROFR thread - general discussion

That's the best data we have - it is old, and Poly is in active sales, so the distribution of UYs could change. That said, looks like Dec UY was the pretty clear leader at that time. Check out dvcforless.com - you can look at all Poly contracts that have been listed - toggle on the switch to see those that have already sold. You can probably get a sense of which UYs have been most prevalent.
I was leaning toward Oct or December based on what I had found as well.

It’s confusing but I really think it’s only confusing if you have another UY. If you have just December it’s easy.
Agree with this. I had only a December UY for so long and it was never confusing, but now all of my resale contracts are February and it’s difficult to wrap my head around lol.

I have FEB and DEC. So hard to remember when my FEB is almost over my DEC is just beginning!

LOL, I think UY is assigned to most new buyers, who are uninformed and unfamiliar with the influence UY can have on points usage. Relatively few new buyers have been educated by DISboards and other sites to choose a UY based on projected travel times. And I think DVD is well aware of the utility of the “double points” sales tool - whether taking to potential new buyer in January 2025 or November 2025, the guide can say “If you buy today you’ll get double points because you’ll get 2024 points too!”

Edited to correct fat-finger typos.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could have a one time uy swap once we become accustomed 🤣🤣

Ok so you are convincing me we may need to piece together a contract size we want. Is there a more popular use year. I want to stay in the same month obviously so we can combine
We have multiple use years and bought each particular use year based upon our travel habits Vero Beach and Hilton Head is an April use year since we are most likely to use those points April-mid August each year and if we were to cancel we would still be able to bank points or have several months to use expiring points. Our Direct contract (VDH) is a June use year and we also have resale at Grand Cal and Aulani in that use year as well since we will probably only travel there in Summer and over Christmas (OBB possible ever other year). We also have December Aulani as well since December and June and July are our most likely travel times. We have one random Poly resale contract that we bought for $110 a point 1.5 years ago that was to good to pass up as well as a December Poly, Riviera and Grand Floridian. We also have a October Riviera that was bought completely loaded with 2023 points and beyond for $103 a point that we also couldn't pass up. At some point we have talked about maybe adding on at Copper Creek for Christmas stays. Most people would think a December would be perfect in this case but October in my opinion seems more ideal considering the blood bath that December was for booking Copper Creek and Boulder Ridge seemed to be this year. Hopefully this gets better with Disney shutting down the major commercial renters. A person almost needs to begin walking a reservation at the 11 month mark in November to get your desired dates and you can't book across your use year so a December use year wouldn't work in this case. So just keep in mind your personal travel habits so you aren't traveling at the end of your use year and ideally traveling before your banking deadline. You also wouldn't want a use year where for example your trip starts at the end of March and extends into April because you'd have to book each month separately if you had an April use year. DVC is only a money saver if you aren't sacrificing points you can't use and having the wrong use year can increase the likelihood of not using all of your points.
