Not ROFR thread - general discussion

Try thousands on ONE event for ONE ticket, like superbowl. I don't ever say anything to people who are willing to drop that type of money, because that's their joy, their money, their business. Unless you come to me to borrow money to pay bills after you went to the superbowl, then I'll have a whole lot to say about that!
When we go to a basketball game we spend around $400-$500 for the night for 3 of us, it's crazy!

Yeah to me, there's no difference in me going to Disney repeatedly vs season ticket holders that have been faithful to their teams for however many years. You do you, I do me, we all love what we spend our money on and that's what life is all about. :goodvibes That's why we work hard to maintain those things.

The seller was very motivated it sounds like. Hopefully it all goes well and since I have a Dec UY I'll be enjoying those extra 2025 points!
Seems that the folks at ****************** might have made a mistake. I found the contract on dvc for less and it was a December UY, the listing said Dec UY, when I got my sales contract this morning it says June! I have tried calling a few times but no one has answered the phone.

See if you can find a copy of the actual deed by doing a name search on the seller:

They got back to me, said the December was a typo and it was truly a June contract. I have Dec UY at BLT so I don't want two memberships and two UY. I'm sad because this was a great deal!
That's disappointing. Now you gotta keep looking and maybe you'll find a better deal in your UY.

I have heard major horror stories of some of these blocked brokers. I will stick with Fidelity. Im sorry that happened to you, what a bummer, but im sure you'll find one in no time! ✨

I have had this happen with one of the other brokers as well, that is why you always check the contract before you sign it. Yeah, the broker had the gaul to be angry at me when I caught the error and told her that I wouldn't sign it and to cancel it.

I had
I think many of us here keep one unusual (i.e. eccentric) item in our owner's lockers. The best one I've heard about is a shower head and wrench, to undo some of the low-flow heads at the resort. I don't keep that in a locker. But I do have something else. So I'm just throwing this out there in case anyone's interested - I keep a small grinder and a Breville bambino espresso maker in my owners locker.

I'm OK with the coffee drinks at Riviera. I'm kinda OK with the coffee drinks in the lobby at the Contemporary. But beyond that, a decent latte is a real weak link in offerings at most of the DVC locations. (And honestly, I'd be mostly OK with Starbucks--but most espresso drinks at DVC areas aren't even up to Starbucks levels.)

This was a few years back, just post-pandemic, when I was sitting in Roaring Fork, drinking one of their push-button, automated lattes, and I thought: how much would it be to get a decent-ish espresso maker. And then, on Amazon, the Bambino Plusses were 30% off. (I think this was right before Mother's Day, a few years back, when all of the Breville stuff was on sale. But the sale, as I recall, lasted through most of June.). And then I did the math.

On an average day at Disney I would buy one to two lattes, most of which weren't great. These are around $6 each. So $6 some days, $12 on others. So I put it at $9 on average.

Then I multiplied it out by a very conservative estimate of 40 days per year on property. So $360 on lattes in DVC quick serve areas.

Then I looked at the hard costs: the Bambino, as best I recall, was $320. I found a cocinare portable (re-charable) grinder for $150. I had plenty of extra espresso tools at home. (I've been at this for a while.). So hard costs were $470. The espresso maker and grinder should make it at least four years. so $117 per year over four years. And maybe they last longer, the grinder in particular. I had the espresso maker shipped from Amazon to Disney for my next trip--again to CCV--and I carried the grinder in my carry-on luggage as it's powered by a rechargeable lithium battery. It came with a carrying case (it's made for travel) and easily fit in my backpack.

Then there's the cost of a second owner's locker, which is $180 per year with unlimited visits. (Also the second locker holds a lot more than the Bambino and grinder.). The Bambino and grinder take up maybe 55% or 60% of the locker. So I can now leave a little more gear in Florida--umbrella, rain jacket, etc.

Anyway $118 plus $180 = $298 per year. Add in milk (from the convenience store in the lobby) plus beans from the roasters near my house and it's very close to $360 for superior coffee per year. (I keep waiting to be stopped at airport security as flying with coffee beans can be a bit suspicious, but it's never happened.). And I can make lattes in my room. And drink it on the balcony without going to the lobby.

I've since also purchased a storage bag for the espresso maker, which makes packing up at the end of a trip easier.

This is probably not for everyone, but I think it's fabulous, especially for days that I mostly hang around the resort.
I had to do a double take to make sure I hadn't posted this. I also keep a breville Barista express (has a built in grinder) in my owner's locker. It also takes uo about 70% of the locker. It was $699 from Amazon and I shipped it directly to Riviera. I also bring beans from my local coffee shop when we fly down since they are my favorite beans. I honestly don't even care for the coffee at Riviera either. There's nothing like waking up in Disney and your husband bringing you a latte he made for you in your own room. I have a dual boiler breville at home and a $300 separate grinder. I also have my "travel" barista express as well. It goes with us in our rv and I currently have it in my cabin at a week long girl camp I volunteer to be the nurse at every summer. I'm only person to have no bunk mates in my cabin and I have named it the Four Seasons. I also brought mini fridge with freezer, a microwave, a toaster, printer and laptop with me in addition to curtains and command hooks. rods. I'm sure they all thought I was prissy and were wondering if they'd made a mistake letting me be the camp nurse but I was also the only one to go up and scrub the filthy shower house by myself to get it in good condition for the little girls using them.

As far as other odd items in owners lockers I also keep 2 heating pads to use before going to bed every night. I also put a small container of damp rid in the locker my espresso maker is in just in case it didn't get totally dry before sealing up the locker.

Us coffee lovers REALLY will go to great lengths to get a good cup first thing in the morning!:rolleyes1 I completely understand 😆🤭 I roll my eyes if I ever hear anyone says "it's just coffee" 🙄 Oh no no it is not!

At least mine was super apologetic, but somehow I doubt I’m going to find a 122 dollar per point contract again for BLT!

You’d be surprised…..
As I was…I found a 170 point contract with 112 points left for Dec 2024 and everything on 2025/26. It was listed at 135, I put in an offer for 122 (agreed to pay the dues since the dues for the 2024 points are “free real estate” IMO) and it was accepted almost immediately. Am I concerned with owning another 45 points, yes and no. More points is more points and it’ll cost me about 360 dollars more a year at the current dues. I can easily get discounted DGC to cover that increase if I start hunting. Let’s cross our fingers that this one is real. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say this place but it was listed on Vacation Club Life (formerly **********). Not sure if people have had good experiences with them before.

I think you will :goodvibes Might not be right away but quite a few contracts were sold in the 120s for similar amount of points these past few months. You just need to wait for your UY
See my post above! Haha just a few hours later. Looks like DVC hasn't bought back any BLT contracts this year so I'm not worried about ROFR.
