Our next trip is this August and our first trip with our little boy who will require a car seat when traveling in a car, etc. We are staying at the GF and am interested in doing the character breakfast at Topolino. Do taxis have car seats? I know must ride-shares won't unless it is a specific category. What's the best form of transportation to get there with him? I guess we can also walk to MK and wait for a bus to go back to the Riviera too as our last resort. I really wish the Minnie Vans were still around!

Yeah that was the other choice lol. Just really wanted to try that pastry basket!
When you have your first child, life as you knew it is over. What replaces your old life is a huge upgrade, but it is very different and will completely change the way you live.

The pastry basket will not be the only thing you miss -- but you are going to enjoy SO much more. Enjoy.

@JimMIA We learn that every day and wouldn't trade it for anything! Unless the Minnie Vans come back, I'm seeing Chef Mickey's in our future. :-)

I am a traveling mom and I refuse to buy into the “you have a baby so just sit back and go without” because we are in a country with so many resources we can find a way. There are car seat rental companies all over Orlando, you can have the seat delivered to you at baggage claim or your hotel. There are also many private car services that have car seats. We have used one for years to get around disney and universal when the kids needed seats. Check out MCO black taxi, or just google car seat rentals Orlando and you will find a great deal of options. Covid restrictions will be a bigger barrier than finding a car seat to get to the restaurant. From one mom to another, if Topolinos is what you want ——get your Topolino, you deserve it!!!

We have a two year old and will also be our first trip to Disney with a kid. We did book breakfast at Topolinos (traveling from Contemporary) and plan on booking an Uber with a car seat. We just plan on leaving earlier than we would otherwise in case it takes longer than normal for an Uber to get there since we need one with a car seat!

I agree with this as well. You don't have to do without; but you will have to do differently.

In your OP, you were really setting some illogical limitations on your options. You didn't want to rent a car, and you didn't want to pay extra for rideshare with a car seat -- but you were lamenting the absence of MV, which would cost more than either one. In addition to the options Makmak listed above, a one-day car rental -- for Topolinos, maybe some shopping, or offsite dining -- is another thought to consider.

You will quickly learn to cast a broad net and look at ALL the options. Once you do that, you'll find the best option for any particular outing.

Lol I'm pretty sure the only thing in my OP was that I didn't want to rent a car! Might want to reread what I wrote since I asked about what the best option for a ride with a carseat would be. I did ask about taxis and uber/lyft with a carseat. :-)

We are taking a car service to/from the airport so the car seat is all set for that. We don't want to rent a car seat but am interested in a mode of transportation that will provide a car seat for the ride to/from Topolinos. When you are talking about private car service you used to get around Disney/Universal...are you talking about uber/lyft? I will definitely check out MCO black taxi...thanks for the tip!

Maybe, just maybe, Minnie Vans will be back in service.
Don't count on it. Those Minnie van were a money losing situation for Disney and Covid was a great excuse to get out of the leases on those vehicles. Minnie Vans were a great value when they were a fixed price, but Disney soon learned that between paying the driver, the gas, the insurance, the lease payment, and Lyfts cut they were in the negative cash flow. So they changed the price model, which made it less attractive, especially when the target audience had access to Lyfts already lower rates right on the same app.

Private car services other than Uber/Lyft we have found often have car seat options (sometimes you have to ask because it may not be featured prominently on their website). MCO Black taxi is a limousine/private car service that we have used all over Orlando and from the airport and there are many similar companies that will go out of their way to accommodate your needs. I wonder if the service you are using from the airport has point to point options?

I thought Uber Car Seat was only New York? Did they expand it? That would be awesome!

Edit: I just checked and I see the car seat option in the app for Orlando how cool!

We will be using Tiffany Town Car and it looks like they require a 3 hour charter. No simple point to point. Probably not worth it for them.

It's always been in Orlando, but they discontinued adding drivers to that category so it will eventually fade away.

First off, Topolino’s is one of the hardest reservations to get, so plan on being up at 6 am eastern time to make it and figure your best chance will be later in your stay. If your reservation is near when HS opens, I’d take bus transportation to HS and then get on the skyliner to RIV. You’ll likely have to show CMs your reservation at CBR to continue on. The character breakfast at Topolino’s is amazing and worth getting. I don’t think Chef Mickey’s compares to it.
