My husband and I were loooking at the TS options at DHS and none really jumped out at us... so we are now looking into leaving the park for dinner (we figure for lunch we will do a CS and split something) and going back after we eat (or just eating a later dinner).

We are not on the dining plan, will have park hoppers and have 1 day planned there if that helps any (for background info lol). We are unfamiliar with the layout (first trip!) so we aren't sure where to look to go for dinner on that day... are some restaurants more convenient to eat at after we leave the park?

Thanks for all your help! :goodvibes

Are you sure you wouldn't like 50's Prime Time? It is such a fun place. :)

DHS is a short walk or boat ride to the Boardwalk, Beach and Yacht Club or Epcot. If you have a hopper you could book something in Epcot World Showcase and take the boat over from DHS then when you are done take the boat back.

Enjoy!

That is one we considered... but my oldest has Autism and I am not sure he would do well there, the other boys would probably enjoy it though.

Thank you! That is very helpful, we had planned on going to the Cape May on one of our non-park days, maybe I will switch it to that day instead.

We have been to Disney Land many times so I can picture the surrounding area easily, this is a whole new world (literally! lol) for us!

it is very easy to get to the beach club. When you come out of DHS there will be a boat launch on your left, just hop on the next boat and they will announce when you are at the beach club. It is a nice ride

Yeah, cape may is the place for you. Also after you eat there are fun shows on the bordwalk that you may want to watch. :)

Excellent plan! We do this at least once a trip.....we have been to Kouzzina and Big River grill....both very good....we haven't tried Cape May, but it gets great reviews......the boat ride is very nice and cool on a hot day.

Have fun:flower3:

I completely understand! It is kind "off the wall" and not something everyone would enjoy. My youngest has ADHD and sometimes things that are not what he expects can throw him for a loop (and though he is not on the autism spectrum he does have some tendencies that, to me, coincide with aspergers). He enjoyed the place very much and we talked a lot before-hand what kind of things might happen, etc. It worked for my son but I'm sure not every child would handle the situation in the same way he did.

We witnessed a waitress picking on a guy because he was on his cell phone and while the waitress was teasing and being funny about it (she was saying, "You better get off that phone right now, young man, and pay attention to having dinner with your family!", he was not all the receptive to it and became pretty agitated. It was strange to watch.

Our waitress actually messed with my kids a lot and we had a blast. I asked her if she would pose for a picture with the kids and she slid into the table next to my kids and gave one of them bunny ears without them even knowing until the picture was already taken. :) I didn't finish all my greenbeans and she came over and played the "airplane game" and made me eat more of my vegetables. We just had a wonderful time there and it's one of the places we are really looking forward to visiting again.

Whatever you decide, I hope you and your family have a truly, amazing Disney vacation!:thumbsup2

And just for fun, here is the pic I was talking about. :)

My niece has many sensory issues, though not Autism. (She hates loud noises, will walk out of movie theatres if the sound is too loud. Can't stand most 3D movies) She adores Chefs de France. The atmosphere is low key, not noisy at all. IF she has gotten overstressed in Epcot we will walk over to France and she calms immediately She will not go to Epcot without a stop at CdF. It probably doesn't hurt that she is a cheese snob, the one time we had a slightly snobbish waiter he melted when she asked an intelligent question about one of the cheeses on the menu. I dream of their goat cheese salad. SO GOOD!

Of course scope out the menu first to see if your little ones would like it, but for one cheese lovin friend of the mouse it is her safe place!
(Also Remy from Ratatouille makes the odd appearance, search the list for times)
