Oh, I know how heartbreaking that is, I'm so sorry!
We had to cancel our first trip to DL last spring because DH was hospitalized 2 days before we were to leave. We had planned to celebrate our younger DS's 2nd birthday there, so suddenly I was scrambling to buy gifts and cake and make it special.
We rescheduled for late September, but I had a hard time getting as excited for it for some reason. But the date came quickly, and despite my lack of organization for this trip, we had a fabulous time. I did schedule a make-up birthday character meal for DS2, and another for DS6, whose birthday had been a month before our trip.
My tip for you is to check out any changes in the schedule for when you do re-book. There was a lot going on in the spring that we were looking forward to, and when we actually went in the fall, some of the rides were down for refurb, the Aladdin show was closed for re-casting, and many shows and things that had been on a daily schedule in spring were offered only weekends in the fall.
As disappointing as it is to cancel, it will be far better to go when everyone is healthy and full of energy! I hope you all recover quickly, and can start re-planning your trip. I think it will be all the more special because you had to wait a bit longer for it.
