Not happy with Christmas decorations in parks...

I agree with the OP. I don't like Christmas music and decorations this early. Now, I LOVE Christmas, but you have to get into a certain 'mood', and for me, that 'mood' doesn't start until after Thanksgiving, and the beginning of December. It just doesn't feel like Christmas yet.... :confused3

One of our local radio stations started playing Christmas music 24/7 the day after Halloween. Although I enjoy the Christmas music, it's just too soon! I think Thanksgiving or right after is more appropriate!

We have a tradition of putting up our tree early November. If we wait later I feel like we have the tree up a couple weeks and that isn't long enough.

We were there mid Nov (17-23) in 2002. We saw decorations going up on the last 2 days. Thanksgiving was the following week. MVMCP is starting on Nov 13 this year. If you're going to throw a Christmas party you need Christmas decorations.
I think this is the earliest they have started MVMCP.

I love Christmas decorations and I love disney. I think they are awesome, but (yes, there's a but) I think they went up way to early. It just seems like if you went now, when you get back home, its just regular days again cause christmas is still far away. Your tree won't be up, no one will have decorations up so your going from christmas at disney, to non christmas back home, then christmas again when it really is christmas. I hope that makes sense. I think they should have gone up around thanksgiving time.

Try living where I do! They start putting up the Christmas lights in Branson at the end of August. By December, you're about ready to tell them just where they can stick all of their holly jolly!

Dh is taking DD& next weekend, and we didn't think they'd see the Christmas decorations - she'll be thrilled! WHat a great way to start getting into the Christmas spirit - I love it, but I don't think a month is long enough to enjoy Christmas. I have already bought my annual Christmas CD. My dream is to spend Christmas at Disney someday...

I don't think its too early for Christmas decorations. I was just thinking about putting out some of my stuff at home this weekend. I remember going the second week in November in 2003 and our resort (POR) was decorated when we arrived. That was our very first trip and I thought it was very magical

I agree, it's way too early. I love Christmas but I don't have my tree and decs up for over two months.

Well I agree with you! It's too early! We went in Nov. last year and we were expecting the Stars and Motor Cars Parade at MGM but we got the Xmas parade! My DS6 was Soooooooo dissapointed! He wanted to see the Star Wars car! And I just think it is too early. If they do need time to the get it all up then that is fine they could start with the resorts and do some of the smaller things in the parks but not the parades and the garland on Main Street so soon!

They don't take anything out of the parade for Christmas they just add Holiday decorations to those that are there. I don't remember a Star Wars float except over Star Wars weekends.

Just yesterday I said to DH (while Christmas shopping...with Christmas music on in the stores to boot :rotfl: ) that I had posted a reply on another thread about how much I wish they'd change the holiday outfits of the characters from year to year. Since starting our WDW obsession in December 2003, we've been there every November/December, and I'm starting to get just a little sick of all same holiday decorations up so early. Being a teacher it's really hard to schedule a vacation during the school year (I only get one non-holiday week off every other year) with marking periods, mid-terms, new classes, etc. to worrry about.

During october in some stores they had halloween and christmas stuff out all at once. it was like nightmare before christmas!

I love christmas at disney.it's my favorite time of year to go.

I had to laugh about the decorations. We left the park at 11pm Halloween night and at 9am the next day the park had been transformed to a Christmas wonderland. I felt like I had gone to sleep and missed a month of my life. I don't remember them decorating that early when we were there in 2002. The decorations were nice to see, but I could have done without the Christmas carols being played over the PA system.
