The Big River Grille-- is the food any good there?

Going home for the first time to BWV and expecting company for lunch. We just can't decide where to take them!:bounce:
Can someone help me out here?:pinkbounc

I guess it would depend on your budget. WE had an average meal at Big River. My favorites in the BW/Epcot area would be Flying Fish, Yachtsman, Chefs in France in Epcot.
We also like Portobello Yacht Club downtown Disney along with Wolf Gang Pucks.

Have fun

Wish I could give you rave reviews, but having just recently dined there, was pretty unimpressed with the food. It wasn't bad, or inedible, just mediocre. Tepid, when it should have been hot and bland when it should have been savoury. The micro brewed beer wasn't as good as many others I've tried (in other restaurants, from other micro brewers). The service wasn't that terrific either. If you want to dine on the Boardwalk, you may want to consider another restaurant. Hope this helps some.

We did not like it either last May. Worst chips and salsa we ever had. Meal was only fair. We did eat at ESPN and the burgers were good. Not exactly a place to visit though and I can do without the TVs in the bathroom. Do your friends have park passes? You could also go into Epcot and eat.

is any one else perplexed as to why there are so many bad reviews of Disney restaurants? It seems to me, that with so many people disappointed with the foodTHEY SHOULD CHANGE IT!!

Am I being unreasonable here? Really:rolleyes:

Big River Grille is not owned by Disney, maybe that is why the food there isn't that great. I've eaten at Spoodles for lunch and it was very good, really enjoyed it. You may also want to check out Beaches and Cream. They have a lot of restaurants in the BW area and I'm sure quite a few will please you.:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

We have eaten at the Big River Grill several times and have been satisfied with it for what it is. It's not our favorite restaurant at WDW, but we will go there again I'm sure, especially since it's open later than some of the BW restaurants.

WRT the food at WDW, in general, I think it has improved greatly property wide since we started going in 1989. Unfortunately, the prices have increased significantly as well. :bounce:

ESPN! Come on! Two weeks ago, my baseball team was playing on a huge screen, I have a pile of wings that are out of this world, something cold to drink. Then I go into the mens room and find I can still watch my Phillies on TV in there. I know being at Disney is paradise, but this was like being on a higher level of existence. After lunch and the game (the Phillies lost though), I went on Test Track. Life doesn't get much better. Love those rest room TV's. Very Cool! :D

I would agree that there are no great places for lunch at BW though Spoodles is good. You might consider Cape May or one of the restaurants at the Swan/Dolphin complex. Going to the parks is a great idea of you have passes for everyone.

We ate there once and was not impressed. I think the Yacht Club Galley has a better selection of sandwiches, salads, and lunch food. They also have a yummy bread with cheese spread that they serve!

After eating dinner at Big River Grille, we vowed we would never return! The food was really bad, and our waitress was very rude. We are not picky customers, and not "complainers" when it comes to dining out, and we could not figure out why the waitress was so incredibly rude to us!

Big River Grille was average at best. We usually eat at ESPN Club. Food is always good, and the service has always been excellant. We also like Portabello at Downtown Disney, or any of the restaurants at Yacht and Beach Club.

I agree that BRG is average also. I do go there later at night to sit and the bar and quaff a brewsky or two though. For lunch, I would choose Beaches and Cream.

I have to agree with Terribelle. The Yacht Club Galley definitely offers a very good selection. We have never had a meal there that was disappointing and the service has always been excellent.:)

DH & I have eaten at Big River Grille twice and were not impressed. The service was slow and our food was cold by the time we got it. Both times we went, the server "disappeared." We had to flag down another server for our bill.

I can relate to that. I have reservations at Boardwalk Villas for World Series week. For sure I'll be spending my evenings at the ESPN club.

for all the feedback. I think we might try the Yacht Club Galley, instead!:smooth:

We ate there three night the week of 4/22 -4/29/01. We had terrific service. Our waitress was Kandyce. She told us that a new company has bought the Brewery and some of the menu has changed. We had the ribs one night they were excellent. We had the burgers another night and the last night my DH had the meatloaf and I had the chicken. Both dishes were very enjoyable. If you go there ask for Kandyce for your waitress. She is the best one there. If you do have any complaints see Heather the Manager. I am sure she will take care of it. By the way the chips and salsa are now the regular tortilla chips not those tri colored ones that they used to have.
