Not Fair UK gets it good

I'm not blaming anyone for anything. :confused3

Just explaining that while it seems like we Europeans are getting an awesome deal because of the Euro exchange rate, whatever we can "save" once we're in the US is not enough to cover what was already spent on airfare.

That’s exactly my point.
IMO you must see the airfare and care hire separate from the stay in WDW ore any other vacation wherever in the world.

You can’t go to your butcher either and say to him:” oke I came with the bus and now you must make a price for me that covers the cost of the busfair”.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

The grass is always greener on the other side I guess....

Most of us in the US will still need to get to Orlando somehow. The airfares are not cheap for us too. I checked the Disney UK site. I realized that there is not tax on anything. The same package if I were to book in the US vs the UK is about a $400US difference. Can anyone in UK spare a MAILING ADDRESS? :goodvibes

Im staying at POR this sunday for 2 weeks. 4 adults from Doncaster to Sanford, 14 nights at POR, 14 day ultimate tickets, dining plan, insurance and car hire. We've paid just under $12000 (£6200) I wouldnt say this is a bargain, but its what we pay for what we want.

GoGo... I completely agree with you. As soon as I saw this thread, I thought "I'd swap a 25 hour flight for a 9 hour one anyday".

We've just booked the DCL for next October :woohoo: and will obviously make the most of it and have a week at WDW - all up, it'll be about $15,000, with the current exchange rate (stay around .85 or higher...please!), that's about $13,000.

I have family in the UK - to get the deals, do you have to prove your address when you get there (assuming we only pick up an accommodation package?) :rolleyes1

wow, no wonder we always hear so many British accents while at WDW - those are some good deals! It's the same at our US colleges and unversities and many people aren't aware of it. Foreign students usually pay much, much less than our own citizens - it's for diversity sake is their explanation.

That's definitely a good thing for the US part of the trip but we don't pay for our flights in US Dollars.

Just FYI, a London/MCO roundtrip August 10-30 is £688 or $1,375 per person.

Marcy Mouse, still wanna move to Europe for a "good deal" ?

A flight from Europe to Miami directly cost around 500 Euro including all fees. (There even cheaper flights available) Thats around 700 dollar.

You just have to book early.

I've flown to Miami at least once a year for the past 10 years, I think I know how much a flight costs and it certainely isn't 500 euros, especially not in summer.

Check Expedia. Cheapest direct flight to Miami in July is 956 euros.

Not WDW related but they also get Dr Who and Torchwood first season while I have to wait a year or two to watch it.:headache:

I'll trade you first runs Dr Who for first run Heros.

I LOVE DR WHO.... new and old school!!!! I have watched the rest of this season already (watched it a few weeks back, took a whole saturday to finish up the season :rolleyes1 ).... I went on the internet and downloaded the rest of the season...

Torchwood is also out there on the net, so if you are impatient (like me :lmao: ) you will be able to download and watch it without waiting for it to show in the US!!!!

Welcome to the United States and we are glad to have you!
Enjoy your holiday!:grouphug:

Thanks:flower3:
I can't wait to get there, it is costing me a fortune but it will be worth every cent.
I love the US.
Disneyworld is a dream, that many can't afford no matter where your from in the world,

We are the lucky ones :yay: :yay:

I couldn't agree more :)

i will happily swap anyone Dr Who for the next series of Lost (is that out yet in the US :confused3 ) :goodvibes

Gogo 65, you are exactly right, we are the lucky ones to be able to afford to go to WDW. For so many people it just simply isn't an option and probably never will be and I am truly thankful that even if I can only afford it every other year, at least I have the opportunity and finances available to experience the magic with my children.:grouphug:

I think this thread could continue for some time and I think that wherever we live in the world there will always be financial bonuses and drawbacks for living in that country and yes, the grass is always greener..........:)

I personally would love to live in the US, having visited about 9 states, not just Florida, and loved every one of them for different reasons.Unless I win the lottery though it's simply not an option. :)

Absolutely spot on Julie, and we do all have choices of where to spend our vacation and how much we are able to spend, for me WDW is an option and I'm very lucky to be able to do this each year, BUT i do forgo other stuff as I'm sure most of the posters do to be able to get these memories and time with our families , enjoy the magic wherever you fly from and whatever you pay because time with your friends and family is priceless Disney Hugs :grouphug:

The Diversity Lottery is going to start next month if you're interested :) I know it's a long shot, but it can't hurt to try ... and try again, and again, and again.. LOL

BTW sorry I got so worked up about the flights thing. It just irks me when people post things that they know aren't facts just for the sake of arguing.

I'm one of those lucky people who gets to go to the US several times a year, my mother waited until she was in her forties to cross the Atlantic and we love it over there. One of her friends who's also an English teacher had never been until this summer - she's very critical of the USA and didn't want to go,but her family made her - she's hooked now!

Season four hasn't started yet. Lost is a mid-season show. Maybe starting in January.

I would gladly trade you that.:thumbsup2

You might be able to find some Lost stuff somehwhere in Disney seeing as it is an ABC series.

im from the uk and i have just booked up this wk for october 2008 with the deluxe dining plan which includes breakfast and lunch and dinner and 2 snacks and disney refillable mug it includes tax but not tips well we have 7 nights in pop and 7 nights in riverside flights and ultimate disney tickets and 6 park flexitickets this came to £6,100 british pounds

Didn't your Mother ever tell you that "life just isn't fair" :)

You have to remember what Disney is competing with. They want the business from the UK but they have to compete with all the worldwide destinations that offer cheap packages. Disney is always going to be a little bit more expensive than other vacations but not so they price themselves out of the market. Haven't you been to Disney enough to know what savvy marketers they are??

I agree with that. I know they aren't making it anymore, but when I heard Coupling was going to be shown in the US I was excited. Well at least until I found out they weren't showing the British version. It was just a really bad American knock off. I was able to watch 5 whole minutes before I just couldn't stand anymore. :rotfl2:

Hi folks just picked up on this thread as I was trying to get info on DDP,I noticed that someone reckons that We (UK) can get our vacation for $4000,where can I book this -sign me up now!:woohoo: I would expect to pay at least that but in £'s not including spending money.Seriously though I have no idea why the UK has been singled out for special treatment but I for one am not complaining! We are going to stay on-site for the first time as space has always been our main priority but this time the extra cost to stay on-site was out weighed by the saving on DDP.
SD:thumbsup2
