"NOT" Closing this board

Thanks for keeping it open, Corey. I am a lesbian woman and it was extremely disheartening to see this board be filled with hateful trolls and having to deal with them constantly. I also agree that closing it now would've been bad timing.

I’m glad to see this stay open as an ally and parent to someone in the community. Our LGBTQIA loved ones need us more than ever.

I was a little surprised that those Disney surveys they send to our emails after a WDW trip included a question if anyone in my traveling party identified as LGBTQ+ this year after my trip earlier this month. I think that is the first time I've seen that question on a Disney survey. I did notice a lack of Disney Pride merch on the trip (there was some, mugs, pins, etc) but not a good selection of shirts/clothing. I chalked that up to them clearing out inventory to make room for new Pride items prior to the June Gay Days. I'm hoping for a nicely designed Pride themed Magic Band+ this year.
In a different facebook group, some offended guest posed the question of Why is Disney asking me if anyone in my household is LGBT. It got shut down within minutes. I just don't understand the need to even pose the question.
Why do you think? Probably so they can decide how much marketing to gear towards us, how much merchandise to create, etc. It seems so simple but he had to make a big deal out of it.

I think that is exactly what they want to know.

Well, of course it's related to marketing somehow, whether it is merch, or events, or maybe opening a dedicated "Pride Store" in Disney Springs. I just thought it was an interesting question to ask. And consider that per capita, LGBTQ+ families, generally, have a slightly higher percentage of disposable income, as statistically we usually have fewer children in the household, though that is slowly changing.

I saw that post too. The person was clearly just wanting to feel like they were being discriminated against by being straight. So ridiculous. Probably one of those "why aren't there any STRAIGHT pride parades" people. 🙄

I got that question in my survey as well. I checked "no" but next time I think I'll put "yes." I have always just identified as straight but as I've gotten older and learned there's more than just gay/straight/bisexual....I'd probably fall into some other category now. (But being happily married to a man for 17 years...there's really no point in worrying about labels now. Ha!)

Okay, I will keep this board open. I agree that now is not the time to take things away.
Good call, Corey.

I guess I'm late to the game posting here on this thread, haha. I'm a straight guy, a straight, old guy, been around here on the dis for over 26 years now. I'm pretty much a CB board devotee I guess. I stop by this board every so often just to see what's going on, staying current with life. I stop by most of the boards here, though usually not posting on most other than the CB, a few others here and there. I stopped by here this evening to see what, if anything, was beginning with the start of Pride Month today. Saw this thread and thought I would add my thought.

I must say that I am saddened by the current political climate affecting the many good people who identify as LGBTQ+. It really is a shame. God's blessings for all of us.

Gosh, I think back to 2013 when this was one of THE only places to discuss and learn about pins and that legacy remains strong with those of us who knew. I too am guilty of not contributing enough but I feel the boards are very special and worthy of remaining!

Just here to say Happy Pride! I am an ally who, found a church here in FL that welcomes ALL to participate and lead, including our LGBTQ+ community. I am sad about the harassment so many experience and that so much Pride merchandise has been pulled from our stores. Will post pics of any that I find during my trip to our DVC and HS later this week!
