Not buying BLT after booking change?

I am a relatively new member of DVC (150 OKW)

Also I was planning on buying a few points (40-60) in the unannounced BLT DVC and later doing the same at BCV. These would have been to try to get a night or 2 at high demand times.
With the eliminations of day bay day booking and the great disadvantage it put short stay people at during high demand time I am canceling that plan and will probably not buy any more points.

Is anyone else making the same of similar decision?

I have points at three different resorts just to get the 11 month day by day booking advantage at each of them for the popular periods when we use them. I was not planning on buying points at BLT but if I had been, this new policy would have stopped me.

The booking policy change won't have any impact on my decision to add on at the Contemporary DVC.

Let's say you plan to stay at your home resort 21-26 Dec 2009. If everybody else books 7 nights 19-26 Dec, you could end up on the waiting list when you call on the 21st to make your reservation....

To add more fuel to the fire, there is some fear that folks might game the system. How? What if someone wanted the same dates as you 21-26 Dec, but booked 19-26 never intending to stay the 19th and 20th. Then at some point down the line, they canceled the first two nights.... On the other hand, it is difficult to plan 11 months ahead of time with getting flights and so on--sometimes it is necessary to make adjustments. (There has been discussion on this board about possible penalties--such as canceling the reservation and starting over again, but then it would make the system a lot less flexible than DVC members have been used to in the past...)
