So here I go, asking a question about the resort refillable mugs.
We have decided to get the DDP but now that they are issuing mugs with the regular DDP, we have a dilemna.
My children and I only drink milk and water, so mine & my DD's mug will not be used.
We plan on returning to Disney later this year in the fall and I am wondering if my DH brought back my mug that had NEVER been used, would this be allowed? I do not want to get in trouble for reusing a mug, as we would never do that.

Your mug is good at the resort where purchased for the length of that stay.

:earsboy: Bill

Your mug is only good for the trip in which it was purchased. Thems the rules!

Oh well. Maybe I will sprinkle some pixie dust on someone else. pixiedust:

Do the kids get a mug with the DDP too?

While I was there last week, I witnessed my first castmember- guest mug confrontation.

A lady walked into Boardwalk Bakery with 2 mugs that had obviously been purchased a few years back. She attempted to pass them to the CM to have them filled. The CM said that she couldn't fill those mugs as the lids were the wrong colors. The lady told her everyone else is filling them. The CM pointed to the sign that says mugs are for your current length of stay only and again declined. The lady continued to argue her case. The CM caved and said I will give you refills this tiime but not again in the future.

The lady again shoved the mugs towards the CM while the CM filled the take out cups as is usually done at Bakery and passed them to the lady. This all happened 'during' my turn to buy my cupcake! I was in the middle the whole time. I finally got to pay and leave. Outside, there was darling lady, grumbling as she sipped her free drinks, from her old Yacht and Beach mugs.

They wouldn't be able to use them either since they didn't purchase them. You can bring them home and give them away.

I doubt that it matters who purchased them....just that they are used during that particular resort stay.

I don't think that is true. When I was traveling with my mother last fall, I purchased mugs for both of us and she used hers even though she personally didn't "buy" it.

I think what was being meant is that since the mugs were gained by use of the DDP, they can not be shared with others. You can not share entitlements of the dining plan with those not on your reservation. I would suspect the PP was saying the mugs would also fall under this rule.

OP, if you and DD drink water, drink it out of your mugs. As others have mentioned, they will only be valid for that stay, so if you already own them, you might as well use them. Also, be sure to use your drink entitlements at your hotel food court to get bottled waters to take back to your room.:thumbsup2

The Boardwalk Bakery and their other locations that offer refills are always going to be a different case compared to the other Quick Service locations among the WDW Resorts. Obviously you know that at the Boardwalk Bakery, Boardwalk Pizza Window, Boardwalk Joes, Seashore Sweets and Belle Vue Lounge when you want a refill you show a Cast Member your mugs and they give you a drink of your choice in a paper cup.

However all the Resort Quick Service locations have self serve drink stations so it would easy for the person you mentioned or anyone else to use mugs from previous trips to WDW.

I'm not much of a rule follower for rules that don't make sense to me. I give Disney $$$$$$$$$$$$$ (lots and lots) and I have seen mugs used from years and years back. I've seen paper cups used, just about everything you can imagine. I will pay to stay in your resorts, I will pay to get into your parks, I will even pay your high prices for souveniers but I refuse to break down and buy new mugs. I simply take the mugs I've had from previous trips and fill them. When someone gives me a hard time, I will accept, not argue, and buy a new mug. But that's just me........

I honestly don't think WDW cares who uses the mugs once they are sold. If one family members purchases several mugs for people they are travelling with, then by your logic only the person who purchased the mugs can use them.

How is the New soda machine at All Star Sports working out?? I haven't heard anything on it in awhile - just wondering if all of the values will be getting them some or not??

While I did use my mug for coffee, I also used it a lot at the machine to get filtered water. It saved me from having to buy bottled water at the resort.

Since you're on the dining plan, you could use the mug for the water and use your credits to get extra milk.

I am usually a pretty good rule follower, but I think it would be nice if you gave the mugs to another guest. They will be used, obviously, during your visit. Technically, you aren't suppose to share Dining plan entitlements or fastpasses or anything you pay for as part of your vacation. But sometimes sharing is just called pixie dust and I think that is really what Disney is all about.

You can get water for your mug instead of soda or coffee. We would fill our mugs in the morning and go into the park. By lunch our mugs were empty but we would ask for refills (if our drinks were low) where we were eating and pour the refill into our mugs. They would just toss the drink out anyway. Could refill at water fountains in park or get water at the counter service locations and pour that into the mugs. It's a nice keepsake but if you really don't want them I'd just give them away. :)
