Not All Irish People Have Red Hair & Freckles & Other Sterotypes

I'm Irish and Scottish, I have brown hair with red highlights LOL and lots of freckles. In my families (both sides) we have brunettes, black haired, blonds and red heads. Some have freckles some don't. We all love potatoes and alcohol though.

The one Irish friend I had was Black Irish, the palest black-haired guy I've ever seen. He could do a great vampire, put him in the sun and he'd burn to a crisp in seconds. No freckles, either.

Most of the redheads I've known are Jewish. There was even a bit of red in my grandfather's hair, though my mother's was brown.

Well, don't discount Erik the Red lol. My ancestry is Norwegian on my maternal grandmother's side. Her father was a red headed, freckled Norwegian, as were his brothers. My grandma had the same red hair and freckles and so did her siblings (their mother was a brunette). My mother, my aunt, and one of my mother's brothers was red haired and freckled. I had strawberry blonde hair and freckles before my hair started turning gray. I have several red haired cousins. The Norwegian part of our family has a lot of redheads.
My husband's side is from Norway. They came over about 4 generations back. I was very disappointed we did not have a Ginger. I love red hair and all my red headed friends. I got a mini me, and 2 blonds. But at least 2/3 are left handed AND have blue eyes!!!!

My grandmother had red hair and freckles. So did my mother, one of her sisters, and 2 of her brothers. I had red hair before it went grey, and freckles. So do both of my daughters and my grandson. Moms family was 3/4 Irish and 1/4 Scottish. But to avoid stereotyping, and to be PC, I have to blame the Scottish contribution and not the Irish?? Who knew.

FTR, my Father's family was black Irish to the core. Except for one uncle who had black hair but a red beard. Now that was something to see.

I hate stereotypes and don't think they are accurate. You were probably a wee bit drunk on Guinness and sitting on your pot o' gold when you posted this. Frankly, I am surprised you stopped your little jig dance enough to post. :)

(I come from a very long line of Murphy's and have brown hair)

And you brew your own beer. . . can't get more Irish then that me boyo. . .

;)

:woohoo:

Myself and all my irish offspring are freckled, blue -eyed, with various shades of curly reds, except my son . Brown hair, brown eyes and he tans. His dad is 1/8 native American and even though he is a pale red head, my son got all the darker genes.
We all feel like vampires in the sun, but he loves it!

I'm a left handed, soulless ginger with more freckles then I've ever seen on anybody. Growing up, I had an Asian maiden name, so when people asked me why, I told them I was Chinese. They believed me.

My dads side has Irish, Welsh, and English.
My mums has Italian, French, and German.

I have no idea what that makes me except a little fiery at times ;)
