Not a whine, but why do I not get codes?

We've been to WDW 10 times over the last 7 years. I am tickled for those of you who have gotten codes/pins in this latest round. Not that I'm itching to book a trip right now anyhow, but I wonder what I am not doing to receive codes and offers? :confused3 We have never gotten one, and frankly the prices to book even a short trip without some kind of break are getting higher all the time. I have changed my email address twice since I started going to WDW, but have updated the WDW site with my new email. If anyone has any guesses I'd love to get it straightened out so I might be in line to receive future offers. TIA

No one knows the exact reasons, except for Disney.

I've been at least twice a year for the past 4 years, 15 times overall. I too, have never received a code. I'm on every Disney mailing list, have taken countless surveys at Disney World.

Disney will tell you it's completely random. I don't quite believe that. To offer as much off as they are offering, there MUST be some plan to it.

My opinion is, if you're someone who goes as often as we go, they figure, they've already got us and we're going to go with or without a code, so why bother "losing" money on a sure thing?

Disney should give discounts to repeat customers. I have been on vacations to Disney parks for a total of 14 years.

Other companies rewards repeat customers, but not Disney!.

Maybe i should go to London UK this year = no money from me to Disney this year.

Of course you would hope they would reward repeat customers, but many on the DIS who got the code have been numerous times. I don't think that's it in this case. I was told by a CM, it may be geographic region . . .

To test this out, did anyone in the NJ area get the code and pin?

Only time I ever got a postcard code was the one year I did not renew my [pass. I took a year off of Disney and only did Universal. It took Disney about 6 months to realize I wasn't going anymore. That was when I got it. I usually go on an average of every 6-8 weeks. I will stay anywhere from 2-10 nights. I agree, they should reward the frequent guests... like the airlines and everyone else. Disney however, feels confident that once they got you.. they got you!

That's why I haven't bothered posting anything recently about these codes. To some, frequent visitors such as us who don't get codes, have no right to complain about it. I'm just tired of being called a "whiner" because I don't get codes. I'm not independantly wealthy. I work very hard, as do all of us. I work OT, weekends, whatever is necessary to make sure my family gets their vacation every year. So yes, it is a bit discouraging that Disney feels no need to reward their frequent guests, just like every other industry I know of.

I'm going to Rainforest Cafe for lunch today. I have a Safari Club card as I go often. They give me 10% off my meal. Makes sense to me.

One thing to consider -- I've never gotten the PIN/code, etc. thing in the mail either. But, I called a week or so ago to ask about availability and the PIN code was on my account. The CM saw it and told me. So, you might have one on your account if you call and simply haven't gotten the notice - for some reason I can't determine. Or more likely, it's like someone else said -- they have you so they're not marketing to you (or to me it seems).

The weeks that are being offered are decided by previous bookings for those dates. These weeks are normally not the peak times.

After the time frames are determined, then marketing determines as, Boomhauer stated, either guests who are not frequent repeater, or always book the same category such as value or moderate, or a certain area of the country to send them to.

So yes the frequent guest who comes often and stays deluxe is very seldom going to get a discount. In Disney's mind that customer is a good candidate for DVC, so why offer them a discount.

The hard part to remember is it is not personal. You are not being picked out to be avoided.

I too have never recieved any codes in the mail. Not complaining though, as I do usually get an ap and get a discount that way. I just want to know why I DO always get the postcards for DVC grr. I tried for DVC and did not get approved for thier financing, so why keep teasing me with the darn postcards for it? lol.

I do not stay delux that often, maybe once a year. I usually do value since i go so often. I will do mod's maybe once or twice a year as well. I have never been offered an upgrade when trying to book either. I have just booked Mar7-11th at Pop.. I know that is high season so I would not expect to get any offer for that. I usually go the last week of May and say anywhere from 7-10 days then.. never offered anything then either & that is value season.. I have a seasonal pass so I am hardly ever there during really busy times...

This code that everyone seems to be getting, is it because they are purchasing tickets as well? That would explain why I would not get it, being a passholder, one wouldn't need a ticket....:confused3 who knows why we don't get them... that is ok with me, if I do not get a good rate, I do not stay onsite.. then Disney doesn't get much from me ;) I already have my pass, pack snacks & waters for the park. Have the DDE & when I leave the park, I drive to one of the values to eat at the food court using my DDE then back off site to where I am staying... it would be to their advantage to offer us frequent guests a special discount once in a while...

:lmao: :lmao: those are the postcards I keep getting too!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: I guess they figure we are there so much we would want DVC

just an update on this post.. I got another DVC post card today telling me to buy before the price increase in March... ... but nothing offering me a 40% code to stay in a value

Just my thoughts from personal experience as a guest and what I read here.

I have received e-mail advance AP rate notices, and a few times received a postcard rate in the mail. (One we used for WL at the end of August.)

I think there are many marketing tools targeting different guests. I am purely guessing that some are sent postcards, e-mails, etc, based on various factors. (If a Room Only res is currently booked, if no res is currently booked, previous DCL guests, DVC members, those who ordered travel information or inquired about availability but yet not booked, those with children, those who are booked -- but in a busy season -- rather than value, etc.)

Not really by design, but I just realize it is looking like 2007 will be a year withour Disney for us. :scared1: We're taking the kids to Washington DC in the spring and to the beach this summer. Maybe we'll get the itch to go this fall, but then again... Let me reiterate from my earlier post :goodvibes , I am NOT whining or begging for a rate/code because I am content with our current vacation plans, but that is probably the only thing that would light a WDW fire under me for 2007. I priced a non-dsicounted package on the WDW`site the other night and yeeeesh... it sure aint getting cheaper to go. I'll be curious to see whether I hear from them in 2008.

It sould be interesting to see after this how many rooms are left. I know they only release x amount of rooms for a certain discount, but who knows what that amount is. It will be interesting to see on these boards during the summer who mentions not being able to book because they are all filled up.
