Actually, it was just early Saturday morning that sucked. My youngest boy and I fell asleep in the living room at 11 or so Friday evening. At 1:30 am, one of our dogs let out a yowl that woke everyone up. He was laying right by my son, but couldn't move. He wouldn't get up, wouldn't look at anyone, would just lay there and whimper. Everyone got up and off to the vet we went at 2 am.
We got there and found out that he had total kidney failure. Nothing they could do. We knew his kidney levels were elevated in January, but nothing in the danger zone. Seems that it got worse in a hurry. He never acted sick until Saturday morning. At 3 am, we made the decision to put him down. Sad start to our weekend.
So, we had to say goodbye to our 9 year old plott hound, Lenny. We were blindsided because we're preparing to say goodbye to our lab/boxer, Katie, who has Cancer. She has about 6 months left from what I understand.
We will potentially go from 3 dogs to 1 in a half of a year.
Goodbye Lenny. I REALLY miss tripping over you if I turn around too quickly.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
