Not a great start

I've taken DME to AKL several times and so far it's been the last stop every time. I think we have the record for the most stops when we were #7 a few visits ago (well except for the couple on that bus who were going to Kidani as they let us off at Jambo first.) I just factor it into my estimated arrival, after driving to the airport, waiting to board, delayed flights, a 5 hour cross country flight etc. adding the DME time at the end is just more of the flying hassle these days.
Ironically the one time my luggage was really delayed was @ GF and we were the first DME stop that time, the luggage arrived around 2 am ( which was 11pm west coast time.)
I tend to pack in my carry on at least enough to get me through a day or two w/out luggage when I'm flying to a vacation, I figure the one time I don't will be the time the airline sends my bags on a vacation of their own.
OP I hope now that you have your bags and after a good nights rest tomorrow will be much better
