We are taking our first RV trip to WDW. We are going to stay at either VWL or AKV. Would we be allowed to (for lack of a better word) "empty":scared1: the RV tanks at the Fort or do we have to be staying there to do so? Sorry if anyone was eating when opening this post.popcorn::

Fort Wilderness does NOT have a dumping station. All of the sites, (except for two loops) have individual sewer connections, so, in essence, yes, you would have to make at least a 1-night reservation, back into the site, and dump your tanks there.

I don't believe FW has a dump station. They only have sewer hook ups at the campsites. I would dump at a Flying J or a rest stop before arriving at WDW.

There is a Flying J in St. Augustine ,I-95 Exit 305. You could stop and empty there, I think it's about a hour and 45 min drive to Disney from there.

If you are driving the RV why are you not staying at the fort??? We just drove from MA to the Fort and if I wasn't staying at the fort I would either fly or drive a car (much better gas mileage).

I know it sounds silly, but this is our first Rv and it is a small one. We decided to drive to disney because of the airlines new fees, flight costs and cancellation of flights. When I get to Disney, I want my one-bedroom villa so the 4 of us can spread out after long days. I'm willing to try camping for weekends, but not our long disney vacation. We're not taking a car down, because 2 family members get car sick (but don't in the RV-go figure), DS has ADD and needs to move around and we would probably all kill each other before we hit DE without a little room to get away from one another.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but what route did you take down from MA? I was looking again the other day at the maps and even though we're probably leaving at 3am from CT, I think I might like to avoid the NYC area. Your thoughts???

And Kristytru- personally, I feel like we have more room to stretch out at a campsite moreso than in a 1BR...well, except at OKW, where we could open both patio doors and my DS could run laps :rotfl2: (thank God the people downstairs told us not to stop him since they found it endearing and it made them miss their grandson)

Either way - have a wonderful trip!

We took Rte. 95. Left our driveway at about 830pm on Fri., took the Tapanzee Bridge in New Jersey instead of the GW. On the way home I somehow missed the Tapanzee and wound up on the GW at about midnight. No traffic at that time of night but the Cross Bronx exp. is a pretty bumpy road, I prefer the Tapanzee even if it adds a few miles to the trip. My original plan was to stop somewhere on Sat. afternoon but the ride was going so well we called FW and were able to check in a day early. We arrived at about 9pm on Sat. Enjoy your trip. Any other questions feel to ask. By the way we'll be in Ct. in a couple of weeks at Odetah, not the Fort but it is better then being home.

:thumbsup2 Excellent info, thanks so much!

And enjoy your trip down here. We've never stayed at Odetah, but I've read great things. Have fun!!!
