not a fan of fast pass plus

After my attempts at a fix didn't work they gave me the number to tech services and added that I could call it 24/7. Figured I'd just head over to a park and hang out a bit. (I must say this issue has me not wanting to give Disney one more penny than necessary parks so my shopping is way down! Lol)
Big mistake to think I would call later.
Yup. Closed.
This is unreal.

And yet....the weather back home is lousy, we are in warm sunny Florida (note I didn't say WDW lol) and I love spending time with my infinitely patient husband and life is sweet in spite of stoooopid stuff like this. Lol

Thanks all for your suggestions. I hope they get this straightened out for EVERYONE very very soon. Such a disappointment from a place I'm not used to feeling this way about.

I have seen reports from others that if they have technical issues with the system, that cms are writing their fp selections on a piece of paper (it is times guide sized/shaped with a list of fp+ attractions for that park)

After everything you have dealt with, I would go to your concierge and pretty much demand that they use something like that to give you your fp+s for the day. You shouldn't have to deal with *no* fps at all because of Disney's IT problems. It's not your fault their system isn't working correctly!

It has never been stated by Disney that it's an unintentional loophole. People have reported being told by CMs to book a room to get FP+ for their trip. They are aware of this.

It's your opinion that you should only get prebooking for the time you're onsite. That is not Disney's current rule. It is very different than booking one night to get EMH for your whole trip. Using an old card for EMH was not allowed. Booking FP+ past your resort stay currently is.

Yes it is my opinion (which is why I started with IMHO) that you should only get on site perks for the amount of time you pay to stay onsite.
Disney has actually not publicly stated either way what their stance on this is, their system currently allowing it is not the same as them saying that this is something they will allow, time will tell.

Live report here. Day two. Three hours with concierge service with TWO cast members working on my account.
Still. Not. Fixed. Two days no fastpasses and I depend on those suckers.

What the hell is Disney doing?
Stopped in a park kiosk to check and yup just plain locked out.
I THINK this is happening to many people who started their accounts with the same login ID as they use on other Disney owned sites. At least the CM that tried to help me seemed to feel was happening.

Kinda not fun being their test subject.

Maybe it is time for Disney to recall this failing system and uncover the paper fast pass machines until they can get these serious problems resolved in order to get the new system up and running in a more reasonable manner. Yes, it is expected to come across minor glitches, but customers should not be losing hours upon hours of their vacation time trying to "fix" Disney's system problems. Perhaps Disney needs to refund a portion of what a person's vacation cost if Disney cannot deliver what was paid for. This is completely unacceptable.

The way I look at it is that Disney didn't give me enough warning about getting rid of the old system before it was already too late to change my flight, room reservations and time off of work, so I'm going to use whatever advantage I can.

If I had known otherwise, I never would have scheduled this trip.

I signed the petition, and in the comments section reminded Disney that Universal would probably be very happy to take my next $50,000 vacation dollars. I've spent a lot of money on my 25 trips to WDW, but I am not going on vacation to stand in 30-60 minute long lines. Did it once on our last trip- 90 minutes for TSMM- and won't ever do it again. DD is an adult now, and adores thrill coasters. We are also HUGE Harry Potter fans and can't wait to see Diagon Alley. I am not sure Disney will ever see our vacation dollars again, after our October trip (which is already paid for via rented DVC points… otherwise, I'd reconsider that trip, too).

Please sign the petition… it's one of the ways that Disney will see the HUGE customer dissatisfaction with FP+.

Ugh!!! So dreading my next trip in April. I should not feel this way for something that used to bring feelings of excitement and happiness. As. DVC member, I'm questioning if I should sell or keep my DVC and just use it as "home" base to visit other areas. There is a lot to see in the Orlando area and we always have our own car.

I wonder how many DVC'rs will sell or fill WDW resorts with guests going elsewhere?

Just because you are not happy does not mean I am not happy. WDW has changed over the past 35 years since my first visit. It will change again. I adjusted in the past and will again in the future.

We would never travel to Orlando if Disney was not there. You can have Universal. Most of it is not my cup if tea. I loved all the HP books and movies. I would have liked to be able to ride a single ride in the WWOHP. Universal has repeatedly shown they want teens and grill ride seekers. Neither is me, so I rarely go.

Are you saying you like the new system relative to the old or are basically system neutral since you will like whatever they do at WDW?

I reserve judgment until I actually try the system. If I don't like it, and Disney keeps using it, then I will use my vacation dollars elsewhere in the future. I have seen enough positive reviews and strategies posted in the DIS that I think we are as ready as anyone for our late June trip.

I arrive this upcoming Sunday for 5 nights, I will post updates on how the new system works.

I have completely done everything online as far out in advance as possible and hopefully we have no flaws. We are going for our daughters 3rd birthday and would hate to have issues ruin it.

Looking at the projected crowds, I would assume you would be good even without FP :) BUT, it will still interesting to see if the full roll out has much impact on low crowd season as well, or how well the system works for you in general.

I will be paying very close attention to reports from President's Day weekend. For those of us who can only travel during peak seasons, I feel like that time will be comparable to summer and spring break crowds. I feel like that's when the real drawbacks of only being able to use 3 FP+ per day will be felt.

Last June we averaged 6-7 FPs per day, usually over 2 parks. This was without any running around or very much advanced planning, it just happened naturally as we moved through the day. Had we not been able to do this, we would have been stuck in summer lines - which start building much earlier in the day than low season lines. Actually we probably would have just ended up skipping a lot more attractions - which would have made our trip much less fun, especially for the first timers we were with. They had such a good trip, and I can't imagine them wanting to go back knowing they could only get 3 FPs per day, and that they would have to plan them in advance. At the end of our trip, they said their biggest surprise about WDW was that we never waited in a line the whole time - even though we were there in the summer. Looking back at our trip report, there is no way that would happen with the current system.

Since when has a petition EVER worked with Disney? Internet petitions are a dime a dozen.

I very much agree with you, we were there for Presidents day a few years go, for that weekend and the following week. It was our first trip, I had not read up on anything, didn't know anything about fastpass and yet, it was easy to use. We didn't wait in any major lines for anything, we also didn't "rope drop" we went early, but still not RD, maybe 30 mins - 1 hour after most days. We pulled multiple fast passes a day, rode all the majors, rode many of the minors, though we didn't even discover TSMM that trip, we didn't even find the entire corridor TSMM is on, that's how new we were :P

That's why I always find it so odd when people complain about FP-, either as unfair or unaccessible to people who don't "know" about it/research it. We figured it out without a problem and during one of the busiest periods of the year, and it worked beautifully throughout the day. The current system limits that usefulness, and seems much more complicated, especially for the "new" people.
