Nose piercing???

I don't think it's a matter of age, but more a matter of if you have the right look/style for it. Placement is also key. I see a lot of people who look ridiculous because it's in a horrible spot. It looks best where the curve of the nostril meets the rest of your nose (flare your nostrils to see the crease). As for the pain level of getting it done, I felt that it was more uncomfortable than painful.

I'm 29 and I have one. I got it done about 3 years ago, maybe not even that long ago. I'll be 30 in June. It didn't hurt a bit. My eyes watered a tiny bit, but it was quick, painless, and I was relaxed. I have a tiny rhinestone and it hasn't bothered anybody. I had it at work and it is small enough to not even be noticed most of the time.

ETA: I remember telling the guy, "Okay, I'm ready." and he replied, "good, cuz I'm already done!" It was that quick. I had to wear a hoop in it for the first week or so before putting a stud in it, and for the first 6 months I had to wear the kind that has a corkscrew or a j-hook until it fully healed before I could put the small studs in it.

How did it not hurt at all???? If i pinch my nose in that spot it hurts!!!:scared1:

DD got her nose pierced at 13. it wasn't fun! the needle went right through, but getting the jewelry in wasn't easy. the post isn't straight and they have to really work to get it in. everybody we know has had the same story too. everybody says it's the worst piercing (on the face).
DNiece had her tongue done at the same time and it was simple and almost painless!
i DO think the nose piercing is super cute. if you want it, get it!!!
besides, what if you had it done before?? is there a time that you would be expected to stop wearing it, because of age?? no way! i say get it done!!! :thumbsup2

they should have put a hoop in it when they pierced it. Every good place will tell you this, in my experience with tattoos and piercings. There wouldn't have been all that pain if they had just slid a hoop in.

if you have a person that's good and knows what they're doing it won't hurt. Seriously, getting my ears done hurt more and I'm a chicken.

My friend has her nose pierced. Actually twice. She took it out once when she had a cold and it closed up pretty quickly. She's a mom in her thirties as well. She's a teacher and for work she wears a small clear ball so you can't even see it.

Do it!!!! I'm almost 39 and thought about it. I work in the music industry so it wouldn't matter for my job, I decided not to because I just don't know if it will for my face. I wouldn't tell my kids not too either...but our house rule is no tattoos or piercings (except ears and only lobes & cartiledge) until 18, after that I'll get the first piercing as a bday gift. :)

I just let mine close up, and I really miss it. I keep toying around with the idea of getting it redone, but . . . . eh. They are super cute if they are done right.

they used to sell magnetic earrings, what about finding something like that and see how you like it first?

I had mine done way back when I was 22 and I am now 37. It was hard to keep up since I was in the military at the time. I re did it a few years ago and still wear it. The secretary where I work is in her 60's and had her done about a year ago with her 30 something daughter. I say go for it.

I think a tasteful little stud or hoop would be cute. My youngest sis has one, and I'd like one, too, but I don't think any school I meet teach at would like it. Go for it!

I don't think you are too old, but I think 13 years old is way too young. That gives me pause about parents who would allow a young child to do that.:guilty:

seriously!! 13!!! I'm sorry, but IMO that is just way too young to pierce their face.

Too old no. But my employer has rules against visible piercings other than ears. We had a couple girls have to remove their nose piercings because of it.

That's why I'm totally against face piercing, is this crappy economy I would hate for my kids not to get a job because they showed up to the interview with a nose ring.

Banning them wouldn't be acceptable in my workplace. We have an enormous number of Indian nationals, and most of the ladies wear a nose piercing as their cultural equivalent of a wedding ring. For many Indians a nose piercing is more than cosmetic. It's my understanding that it is not precisely a religious requirement, but it is a strong cultural imperative in some regions.

I say go for it! To me age isn't a factor on whether or not to get a piercing. As long as you feel it's right for you then there's no reason not to get it.

As for pain, I didn't think it was all too bad. If it was I wouldn't have gotten it done a second time (I took out the first one years ago.) Just a pinch, and I didn't think jewelry insertion was horrible.. no worse than any other piercings I've gotten.
