Hi. vacationstogo.com has a really good price on a 10 day Hawaiian cruise in Aug this year. Has anyone here been on the Norweigan Wind? I did a search a few weeks back & didnt find a lot of positives about this boat. Thanks

If I remember correctly, when we were looking at doing that cruise, it seemed that they used the oldest Norwegian boat for that one....meaning you would not find the same amount of space dedicated for family/kids or spa stuff. The rooms were also very very very small from what I remember.

This was last year so they may not be using the same old boat for that route or may have remodelled.

I am very interested in the NCL experience as everyone I've talked to says it's great (the freestyle dining sounds good, but the majority of food service aboard is an extra cost then). We are debating them for Alaska for next year.

In 1999 we sailed on a 12 day Norwegian Wind Hawaiian cruise. Actually at that time it was a repositioning cruise from Alaska back to the Carribbean. We flew to Honolulu and boarded there. We had day stops at Kauai, Hilo and Kona on the Big Island and 2 days on Maui before our 5 days back to the mainland. It was my DH, brother and sister-in-law. We loved it. At that time the Wind was only a few years old and had actually been lengthened the year before. They basically cut the boat in half and added some additional room. We had a cabin with a verandah which they considered a suite so we could order full breakfast to sit out and enjoy on our verandah. We had great service and loved the itinerary. We returned to Maui in March this year for a week's stay on the island. One morning while I was sitting on our condo's lanai, the Wind was docked off of Lahaina. It brought back such fond memories.

I've been on the Norwegian Wind twice (although not in Hawaii). We really enjoyed it. The first time was before the Freestyle Dining thing started and the second was after it. I think they've adapted the ship pretty well to the Freestyle. We enjoyed all the "action station" food out on the deck by the pool! It's a good ship.
