I Like Maelstrom, however, I would not object to it being more of a norse mythology story. On the matter of Norway, i really find it boring. The only reason i don't just walk through it is Maelstrom.

Given Disney's track record on attraction refurbishments - Tiki Room, JII, Spaceship Earth's descent - you'll understand if I get more nervous than excited over the prospects of an update (I use the word "update" loosely).

Maybe showcase some of the hot new Volvo's (C30, C70 and S60) in the pavillion too, with of course a proper host (ie. model).

With a "proper" (Norwegian) host visitors wouldn't even notice the cars.

That would be putting it in the wrong place. They should be put next door in China as the the car company is now owned by a chinese automaker "Geely Holding Group".

Also the last time I went into the store in Norway to look at the norwegian clothes.....all made in China.

Good point. It's amazing how the Imagineers designed World Showcase with the future in mind. Norway and China are next-door neighbors. In fact, they're the only two countries that are directly adjacent, without an undeveloped plot in-between.

I wonder how much of this is a negotiating tactic by Disney to try to extract money from business and/or government sources in Norway. In other, Disney might be threatening, "You've been getting a free ride (literally) since the NorShow sponsorship contract ran out many years ago. Now, we want a new contract or we'll make sure that Epcot no longer promotes Norway."

I think EPCOT needs a Disney California Adventure style cash infusion, development, re-theme, and refocus on what EPCOT was intended to be, and what EPCOT should be.

As far as the pavilions around World Showcase Lagoon, they could all use upgrades, updates, and a refurbishment.

EPCOT is really looking a little tired and worn around the edges, and I have to say - I really don't think Walt Disney would be all that impressed with the park these days.

As much as I love EPCOT, I often times feel like I stepped back into the 80's when I'm in the park.

To the best of my knowledge, GM did not, and has not renewed their sponsorship of Test Track, but I think Disney has been patient with them - I wouldn't be surprised to see the sponsorship disappear in the next year.

Problem is all of your WS attractions can't happen as Disney does not invest in this area. Unless you're getting Switzerland, Canada, Germany and some Scandanavian country to pony up the dough, it ain't happenin'. (Basically the same economic problem we see in expanding the monorail) ...

The Norway pavillion is actually one of my favorites. Not only does it seem to constantly be stocked with incredibly hot women, but they also serve my favorite "regular" beer in Epcot: Carlsberg.

Their store is great for boys too ... lots of swords and armor.

Disney spends a lot on upkeep and I'd they want spend on WS they can whenever they want to.

I'm not saying they can't but over the years what have they done to upgrade WS? We've had GREAT rumors up the ying yang but when push comes to shove nothing has ever been done because it is their policy to not to spend their money when (they feel) they can get someone else to do it.

I agree that it needs to be done and I want it to be done but like I said the same goes for the monorail. If they truly want to make major upgrades that will pay dividends for years to come these things are a no brainer ... Sadly 'no brainer' seems to be who's in charge at Disney these days.
