thursday he escaped while being transported to court in the morning. He overpowered the cops, took a wallet and a pair of pants from them to exchange for his orange prison issue. Locked the cops in the back of the car then went into the meyer store in arlington heights to buy supplies. the cops escaped because they had a hidden handcuff key.

he then drove away in the cop car (I think)? Hijacked another car and that was found in the back of a Boston Blackies restaraunt which was right behind his old apartment.

this morning he jacked another car from a lady and now there are reports of him robbing a bank in bloomingdale!

keep your doors locked and stay safe! So far I have not read any reports of personal violence though.

We just got a call from the superintendent of our school district -- apparently they thought he was in our area this morning so DD's elementary school and DS's middle school were both placed on lockdown for an hour. The good news is that over the summer our school district hired a security specialist to standardize security procedures across all the schools and train the teachers in security measures, so I'm sure that the schools did their best to keep everyone safe and secure.

According to the latest from the Trib's website, they've caught the guy in West Chicago -- what a relief! Now I can't wait to hear DD's and DS's version of how their days went.
