With the fares increasing I don't know what to do. We are leaving Friday after Thanksgiving and returning 12/4. Do you think there will be some sales between now and then. If not, right now I am leaning towards Northwest - never flown them before.

The other alternative is Southeast but with 5 kids that have never flown I would prefer getting seat assignments when I book.

Oh, I'm flying out of Allentown, PA.

We flew NWA last summer, I checked everyday because I couldn't decide between flying or driving. Around 90 days out they dropped so I went ahead and bought them. I think they stayed fairly low for about 30 days then went up. With it being a holiday weekend I don't know if they will go down much or not. Just a thought.

I fly NW all the time. Years ago, flights were almost always delayed. Now, I rarely experience a delay.

I have my FF miles program with them. In fact, I have enought miles for 2 free tickets in my account. Again, I have never encountered a problem booking them.

I don't know, they are just like all the big airlines, professional, well trained, and courteous.

Hi,

Northwest gives few sales. Did you see the MEA thread about NW faares?

I doubt fares wil go down for Thanksgiving. If you are happy with the price now, go for it. If pigs fly, and the fares go down, you can ask for a credit voucher.

We were on 5 diff NW planes last weekend because of connections. Their airbusses are quite comfy. You should be able to preboard with small children and boarding on NW planes starts 30 min. prior to departure. Check as many bags as possible. Good baggage handling. NW gives a choice of bev and a tiny bag of pretzels to each passenger during flight. That's it. Bring munchies for kids. Take pillows and blankets out of the overhead bins before you get settled if you want them. They go fast. Avoid choosing seats by the bathrooms.

We did the E checkin at the airport both times and bypassed long lines. It was slick and took less than half a minute. The machine asks for your cc that you paid your tickets with, lists the travlers flying, press yes to all, shows you your seats. You have the options of changing them. Then spits out your small passes which are about lx4". It will also give you luggage tags. You can also check in on home computer.

I know you are in PA, but I'll give you my two cents worth with NWA having a hub here in MSP.

Herc says NWA has few sales and that's true out of their hub here at MSP, but you obviously got a good deal from your airport and I say go for it.

We prefer to fly NWA to MCO because up here they have the widest variety of flight times and rarely are delayed. They are also one of the very few that fly non-stop.

I fly them to Chicago for my annual national conference each year. They always seem to have the better times and the fares are competitive.

I have no qualms about flying them. Check-in is simple and as Herc said, can be done from home. You can select seats at 90 days out from your flight dates. I think their kiosks offer easy self check-in and at least at MSP they have dedicated windows for e-ticket check-in people checking luggage. So fewer, and in most cases, non existent lines there.

Enjoy.

OMG Herc, that is soooooooo funny! Spoken like a true Minnesotan, flying out of a NWA HUB.

We've never had any problems flying Northwest, except when they went on strike in Aug. 98 during our honeymoon. THought we would be stranded in WDW:D . Would not have been the worst thing. That was the one time I was happy and booked through Travel agent because they had us booked on another airline in a jiffy.

All that being said. I was really dissapointed with ticket price flying out of Detroit Metro, but was pleasantly surprised to find out that Northwest added Non-stop flights from a nearby smaller airport at much cheaper rates.

If they have a great rate now, I say go for it. I have gotten a MCO voucher from them before and used it no problem.
