Good Morning Cruisers!

:welcome: Lisa and daughter!

It should be a good weekend here - yesterday was terrible!

Have a great day everyone!

Hi to everyone!! My name is Lisa and I have been following this group from day one. My daughter and I have been booked on the cruise since the first day of booking. :) I have enjoyed reading your posts and decided to jump in and start asking some questions if I may. I know that some of you have already booked where you will be staying in London. I am interested in staying at the Park Plaza County Hall but want to know how I can book it without going through Disney. When I went to their website, those dates were not available. Thanks in advance for your help and I look forward to getting to know you as we all plan this incredible journey. :thumbsup2

Lisa

Welcome Lisa!!!!

Hello All,

I have been lurking on these boards for a long time and thought it was time to join in. It took me a few days but I managed to read all 200 pages. (on the med cruise I tried to keep up with all the threads!) We looked at this cruise when it first came out and like many thought the prices were outrageous and gave it up. But after much denial we have booked a Cat 11 are already planning. We've had two cat 4's, two cat 6's, a Cat 12 upgraded to a SPH 10 and now an 11 just to continue our DCL habit. I still think it is very expensive, but we are hooked. After cruising RCL last year we are even more sold on DCL and I know these boards are the best place for the latest info and some of the nicest people.
We are a family of four with my DH, DS who will be 19 and DD who will be 13(:scared1: ) Needless to say we are already excited with still 15 months to go.

I have checked some hotels in London and they will be expensive. Is it true that DCL wants over $2000 to book hotel and transfers through them? I am wondering what PPCH will charge come 2010 because they seem pretty reasonable for this summer. Did those who booked get price quotes already?
There is so much planning to do and plenty of time. Looking forward to all of it!

WELCOME!!! We have downgraded cabins to a cat 10 to be on this cruise so I know what you mean. Maybe I'll get lucky and get upgraded! I have already booked at the PPCH for the week before the cruise. With 3 we had to get a suite so it cost a little more. 200GBP a night. I have also been looking at other places that seem nice and have found a couple that will take ressies for next year already so I may switch since the price is lower.

I am hoping they do what they did for the Med when they slashed the prices for the Cat 12's because I really had sticker shock last time after paying in full!

It sounds like you got this year's prices so that is good. I think I will do the same thing as far as shopping around but I think it's good to get something in the interim. While I have only done preliminary shopping I am finding it hard to get a room that will take 4. Off to more research....

:welcome: Sandi! Yes, we had to lower ourselves to a cat 10, but were lucky enough to get one on deck 5! It will be only our second time in an inside room, we are doing the 10th anniversary Wonder cruise Aug. 13th, and that is also in an inside room but on deck 2:scared1:

Luna Simone Hotel and Days Inn Hyde Park have rooms for 4. I am looking at both. DI will take your ressie now and is much cheaper but still has a good review. LS won't take ressie until July and is also cheaper and has a great review.

Lynn, I haven't been in an inside cabin since the "Big Red Boat" I used to have really bad motion sickness and I was miserable then. I swore I wouldn't cruise again :rotfl: This just shows you how much I want to go on this cruise. Well, I have a better handle on the motion sickness now I just wonder about storage in the Cat 11 cause I read there is not trunk and I hope we don't miss the second bathroom too much.

Gydell, thanks so much for the hotel names. I will go and check them out too.

I don't know your money situation but a cat 10 is only about $350 more than a cat 11 and you would have the steamer trunk and the split bath.

The bathroom is the reason we would only go down to a cat 10! We normally cruise in cat 7 or 5. Scott refused to even think about cruising until Disney built a ship - now he loves it!

is it one of the SPH rooms?

Yes Peter, it is one of the secret porthole rooms.

Now it is not a secret:eek:

Beats my life boat suite:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Good Morning, or Afternoon for those on the east coast.

We felt the same way after the big red boat! I wish we could get a 7, maybe our college student will decide to stay home next year (yeah right, and miss all that good food!) but we really liked the 5020 last time. We couldn't believe our good fortune.

I'm kind of OCD about finding a cabin and pretty much all that's left is really forward or aft. Our Cat 11 is midship on 6 so I feel pretty good about that in terms of motion sickness. We splurged for a Grand Suite last summer on RCL which was way forward. Well, it turned out to be a blessing and a curse because the first formal night (it was a family reunion complete with a family picture) I spent the whole night curled up in a ball in our lovely cabin
Maybe it was Karma for picking that cabin. And as someone said on the main board we will get there the same time as the passengers in the Roy Suite:cool1:

Good reason!

Here is a little information about my daughter and myself. We live in Katy, Texas (close to Houston). My DD is 5 and is an active Kindergartener. She is a competitive gymnast and keeps me very busy with all of her activities. :yay: We just returned on Jan. 31 from our
6th trip to WDW.

This past summer we took our first cruise. :boat: We only took a 3 night DCL because I was afraid that we were going to be bored. :rotfl2: We had a fabulous time and I am very excited about this Baltic Cruise. (DD does not know that we are going. It is one present that she will be getting for her 7th birthday.) :bday:

I booked a CAT 12 and hoped for an upgrade for our last cruise. We were upgraded to a CAT 10:cheer2: right below WaveBands :scared1:. So for this cruise I wanted to make sure to lock in our location. We are in a CAT 11 (with just the 2 of us there is no need for a split bath) on Deck 6.

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday.

Hi everyone! Just checking in and giving us a little *bump*...

I have a new mission for the cruise - to sample the local pink fizz in each port!!!
10.gif

I got the idea as DH came back from Moscow on Friday not only with the mandatory fur hat...

...but also with a bottle of Russian pink fizz!!! Cool bottle, huh?!!! And so the mission was born - OK, so any excuse but it might be fun... :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:
