Hi Pete,
the distance from Warnemünde to Papenburg is 439km/275mls and it takes about 4 1/2 hours as you can't use the Autobahn all the way and then you have to pass through four metropolitan areas.
It's definitely too much for a day trip while you're in port.
Talking about giving you a ride:
Even though Germany is a small country (About the size of Montana) from Frankfurt to Warnemünde it is 674km/422mls.

And to be honest: There's much nicer things to see than Papenburg when you're in Warnemünde. Rostock is a beautiful city and also Lübeck is worth a visit.

I asked my friend in Germany, What he thought!
:rolleyes1

I was wondering how they were going to pull that one of anyway. It seems like a huge liability to me to take people to a working shipyard. Now if the ship was done and just sitting around at a dock somewhere that might be a different story.

I wonder if they were just planning on sailing by it so we could wave at it? :lmao:

Please excuse me, I am so new at this. My husband and I along with a friend are booked on the June 12th Baltic cruise. My husband and I have been on a few other Magic cruises but this will be a first for our friend. We are so excited about this cruise. What should I do first?:confused3

:welcome:

Welcome aboard! Glad you will be joining us!

Just wanted to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving! I'll be thinking of you all while I'm at work :sad2: To all those that will be travelling, have a safe journey.

Just got back from seeing Quantum of Solace. We had a Staff Appreciation week at work, and they treated us to the show! Loved it, plus it is nice to spend the afternoon with fellow workmates away from the office!

Cool, I had no idea the shipyard actually did tours.

While it would be cool to see the new ships being built, I think I'm going to have to go with a day trip to Berlin instead. There will be plenty of time to see the new ships once they are done, but who know's if I'll ever get back to Germany again?:confused3

Well, this is what I was SUPPOSED to be doing this afternoon. Our team of 4 had plans to do this, but one of the people had to cancel as her DMIL is in the hospital and she wanted to leave early to visit her. So here I sit, my work all done, waiting for the 5:30 buzzer! :sad2: I bet it will be the first of the year before this is re-scheduled.

.

It will be worth the wait Jackie! One of the first Bond movies, that I actually could follow without having to ask for explanations :rotfl2:

Saw a preview for Angels & Demons... Looks really good! Will have to read the book again, and this time finish it!

Thank you for the welcome. I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly so please forgive me if I make some errors. I hope to have this all figured out by the time we board the ship! The webpage Deb made is great! I'm confused about the quick reply. Do I click on each individual message or just the last message in the thread? Thanks!

I either click on reply on the bottom left of the page or If I want to quote some one i click where it says quote in there post.

You will figure what you like best...

I never use quick reply :goodvibes

Send deb your info and she will add you to the roster, you may include as much or as litttle as you like, can also send a photo...

Welcome!

I will add your information to the list.

Hopefully I will do an update this weekend. It has been crazy time at work. Saturday afternoon a 274 unit (27 story) building had an electrical fire and they evacuated everyone. May be weeks before they can return. So we opened an emergency shelter for about 30 of those residents for two nights.

We are going out for Thanksgiving dinner. There is just the 3 of us and it is just easier for everyone! No muss, no fuss, no dirty dishes. We do end up buying a turkey and cooking it, just so we have leftovers :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Debbie

WELCOME!!! The 1st thing you should do is take a deep breathe......there's plenty of time to figure things out. If anyone finds out info they will post it here. We know the hotels that DCL is using in London for before and after stays if booked through them. Some have done a little research on St Petersburg tours. Just ask questions as you think of them and someone will answer them for you.

Thought this was cute......A young man named John received a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Every word out of the bird's mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity.

John tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to "clean up" the bird's vocabulary. Finally, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. John shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even ruder.

John, in desperation, threw up his hand, grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer.

For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed. Then
suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute.
Fearing that he'd hurt the parrot, John quickly opened the door to the freezer.

The parrot calmly stepped out into John's outstretched arms and said, "I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior."

John was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude. As he was about to
ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, the
bird continued,

"May I ask what the turkey did?"

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
