:stir: :stir: No Pirate Night as it has been changed to Viking Night:stir: :stir:

We are seriously going to try and do this trip like we did in college:hippie: :hippie: with just a backpack and maybe a shoulder bag. Will see.

I still like my idea of a t-shirt with a check list that says,
1. This is my Formal wear
2. This is my tropical night.
3. This is my Simi Formal
4. This is my Pirate outfit
5. ETC ETC ETC......

Maybe we should all call DCL and say we don't want all the formal nights!

Thank you! :)
We live in Alpharetta GA.
What about y'all?

We lived in Alpharetta for 20 years and moved 4 years ago to Canton. Have you cruised before?

DAVID - great job!

Boy, it is going to be tough packing all the formal wear for 3 nights. But we really enjoy getting all dressed up for dinner. I may just have to pay to bring an extra bag on the plane. Now to get Steve to agree to that. New clothes! Yippee!

Do you think they have women tuxes I could rent?:lmao:

Woohoo, I can bring as many formal outfits as I want!!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: (I don't want actually!!!)

I'm in the same boat. I turn 47 on June 28th. But we are celebrating it the last night on the cruise. We will actually be flying back home on my birthday, since we plan to stay a few days in London after the cruise. I usually celebrate my birthday for at least a week every year anyway. :thumbsup2

Well I might just pick a day for our wedding anniversary then!!!;) 41 years is special isn't it? More than 2 life sentences.:lmao:

Yay!!! :yay: :yay: :yay: Looking forward to the shopping... :goodvibes

I'm hoping for 3 dressy nights - I really want one to be on my birthday...

I know my TA arranged for me to celebrate my 40th birthday on the 13th (day at sea) and our 10 year wedding anniversary on the 17th (another sea day). Guess they would also be formal/semi-formal nights?

Do you think they will be able to do Pirate night in the Baltics? I wonder if there are restrictions on fireworks coming off a boat up there. Maybe they'll plan an alternate (*ahem, Viking night, ahem*) instead?

I heard there won't be any notice of available excursions for quite some time. I know there are the basics which you can find in many of the travel guides, but I think I heard that Disney will also be doing some Disney themed excursions too! Sounds cool to me!

Hey Marilyn, our real 33rd wedding anniversary is May 28, 2010......I guess we will also have to pick another date... to celebrate.
I laughed when you said "more than 2 life sentences".
I was talking to DH yesterday about all the time we now spend together.
He retired 10 years ago and I retired 8 years ago. I said that if we haven't
killed each other by now, I think the coast is clear.
I think I am going to rent a tux for DH for our cruise.

If we are going to/from Russia could we not have a James Bond theme night??

Claire ;)

Well, my birthday's on the 22nd, another sea day - I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll have that as another formal/semi-formal night... :goodvibes

Love that idea, Claire! :thumbsup2 And all the more reason for our menfolk to bring out the tuxedos... :cloud9: Oh and order martinis - shaken not stirred... :lmao:

John rented a tux on the PC cruise and it was excellent. He looked good too!:lovestruc

Now that is an idea!!! :snooty:

Hi all,

I've created a basic stand-alone calendar page now to keep track of all the celebrations, ports and shore times. In time I can add any other events that might get organised so everything is in one place. You can find it at:

http://www.wickesy.co.uk/cruise/northernsightsevents.htm

so take a look and let me know if there is anything I have missed or that you would like added/taken away.

Great page David! :thumbsup2

I know with the Florida cruises it is easy to rent a tux but how about the European crusies?

Claire ;)

I have to make up for missing on a formal night this coming year. We are only taking a 4-day cruise and there is no actual formal night. But they do have a semi-formal night and I will make sure that we do Palo on a different night. So we will get at least two nights where Steve will wear a suit and I will wear a cocktail dress. I hear that the Wonder is really casual. But I feel that you can never really be overdressed.

I am really considering ordering a tux for Steve. Then he will only need to bring one suit. He can wear each two times and be set for the cruise. That will cover 2 formal nights, 1 semi-formal night, and at least one night at Palo.

Question: Will we still only get one dinner reservation at Palo on this cruise? I wondered if on the longer ones they allowed a couple of nights. Any Med or PC cruise experiences out there?

We have rented from cruiselineformal dot com for Disney and Princess. Don't know if they go to Dover, but they did go to Southampton....(or tried to).
When we got on the Princess in Southampton, we were told that the rental truck never made it to the pier. The Princess staff just took the tuxedos that were left on the ship from the previous cruise, dry cleaned them onboard, and passed the out to people that had rented and paid cruiselineformals. DH tux was a little snug, I complained, and they gave me a $25 credit.
Don't know if they send a truck to Dover, but if they do, we will rent a tux for DH.

That's a great question. Any Med cruisers out there to answer that?

Never mind, there's the answer. Thanks! Boy, I feel like we are almost on a chat right now. This thread is moving pretty fast this afternoon.

Only 1 but when you get onboard then you can check daily for another one.

Exactly! We were on the Wonder in May and it's definitely got a more casual vibe than the Magic. BUT doing Palo on a different night to the dress-up night makes it more special... :thumbsup2

Great idea... I'm totally going to lead Richard down the tux route! He will be bringing a suit anyway as he intends to go to work on the morning we disembark - don't ask...

I'm also rather excited at the prospect of myself in an array of frocks!!!princess:
