Penny and I just signed up for this cruise. We were going to wait and see what sort of price we could get while on our April 2009 Tortola cruise, but were concerned that the price might go up/ship fills up.

This looks like a lively group; of course with Eva and CustardTart how could it not be.

Getting excited as Saturday starts our annual Thanksgiving at the Beach. We rent a beach house on the Outer Banks, NC and invite all the kids (and more importantly the granddaughters) for a week at the beach. One of our favorite times of the year.

It's freezing here today. Probably not going to get above 40 and the low tonight is supposed to be 19. They're saying that will be a record low if it does get that low. I'm so ready for sunny Florida a week from today.

I would say I am about 89% healed...
couple more weeks, and i should feel better, for those who don't know what I am talking about, I broke 8 ribs and my wrist spending 18 days in the hospital, about 9 weeks ago..
Was a work related accident, 30' fall onto a concrete slab, I am Very Luck to be alive...

It's good to hear you're getting better day by day. Are you going to go back into construction after you're healed or are you going to get into something a little safer? I know Jen must have been scared to death.

Thanks! I know I'll have plenty. My daughter and I are planning on coming in on Wednesday or Thursday. We are looking at a B&B. Hoping to visit Canterbury and Dover Castle. Can't wait.

Oh no! What have I let myself in for Peter I must warn you that we have a toddler here who has not yet grasped the concept of sleeping thro the night so you may want to make other arrangements for a stop over. Although I do hope that he will have cracked it in by the time he is 3 lol Transport could well be a problem too - although we're only about 30 miles away the weird way the trains work would make it very time consuming and involve changing! Having said that we live in a lovely seaside town that would make a good place to visit And breakfast is currently porridge oats made with soya milk to address my dh's high cholesterol levels - how does that sound?!

On a more serious note gydell the Ramada hotel isn't in Dover town itself, but its probably only a 15-20 cab ride from the western docks where the cruise ships go from. I've never stayed there but just checked trip advisor and it had mixed reviews. Perhaps nearer the time I can go and take a look round?? We have stayed at the Premier Inn which is right in Dover, next to the sea. That was about 3 years ago and it was very smart, clean and tidy but basic. I guess it depends what facilities you would be looking for.

mjgirl - Dover Castle really is well worth a visit - you could easily spend a whole day there if you have time. Canterbury is also lovely, it gets busy in the summer with all the visitors but there is the Cathedral to visit which is great as well as shops and museums depending on whay kind of things you're into
