Northern Sights and Mickey's MAGICal Delights-1st Baltic Cruise-June 12,2010-Pt 2

Those who are flying with BA soon will be pleased to hear that our High Court have granted an injunction preventing the cabin crews from going on strike for the moment.

BBC News

Hmmm...That's really interesting. Today we were told that all BA flights for the rest of this week to Uganda had been cancelled. Ordinarily, that wouldn't necessarily bother me, except that we now get our mail delivered via BA - so no flights - no MAIL! :scared1: (Oh - and this affects you guys too because some of the stuff I need for the FE gifts is in that mail!!!!:scared:) And we were really surprised because the last time BA went on strike they managed to keep most of the long-haul flights running. Not sure what's up with them now. :confused3

We got about 95% packed yesterday just last min stuff to pack in carry on, we are under 20 kilos in our bags,

Looking over maps etc

I've been packing also, but just not packing for the cruise! I sold my house and since we will be gone the whole month of June and close in July, I needed to get house packing done.

However, I did get the suitcases into my bedroom over the weekend! Don't know how I am going to get 3 weeks worth of stuff into 1 check in each and 1 carry on each! That is going to be a challenge.

I hope to get most everything in the house finished this week and into the garage except for furniture and then will be ready to move in July.

I need this vacation, that's for sure!

Money, you guys paid for these cruises:lmao::lmao:

That is what DVC points are for:thumbsup2

Well, since I only have 900 points and you and Lynn have millions, I have to use my DVC points wisely.....

Used cash for 1st cruise and points for second.

Jamie and I are wanting to do an Adventures by Disney in 2011 on DVC points (if I can fit it in between all those cruises already booked).

Now, if you want to give me a gift of DVC points (Jamie's graduation present) then I am sure she would be more than willing to accept.....:rotfl: :rotfl:

I recall BA was going to the High Court today for an injunction to prevent the strike, this may affect our pre cruise travel from LHR to CDG.

It's weird because on the BA website, it says very clearly on the front page that the strike has been cancelled. But every flight to/from Uganda for the next five days is still listed as cancelled. :confused3

I do recall seeing World Cup Matches on the TV in Cove Cafe.

Yep DVC is not free, right you are, for us DVC has been great. I totally realize it is not for everyone.

:scared1::scared1:OMG! :scared1::scared1: You are moving in July and going on a 2 1/2 week vacation in June! YOU ARE MUCH BRAVER THAN ME!!!!! Good luck to you! Call in all your relatives to help you pack!

Patrick has a neurologist appt. tomorrow am. then we are going to stop by the Comprehensive Care Center, where he will be staying while we are tootling around Europe. We want to talk to him on Skype, so we need to see what kind of computers they have there, and get the camera and Skype installed. Patrick is ready to start packing.....he wants to start packing his DVD's. Who cares about clothes? All he thinks he needs is his TV/DVD player and DVD's. He is so funny!

We used DVC points for this cruise, too. It's nice to know that we are using them for something we REALLY want, and it's been paid for in advance! Good times are coming!:dance3::dance3::dance3:

Connie, I forgot. Is Patrick coming?

What's another $50? Easier than worrying about weight and how to get things home.

I am a bit of a miser. But this sentence broke me out of it. I am going to pack what I want and then just pay for it. The luggage allowances have been stressing me out.

Our membership in DVC is mainly for the cruises. We booked this one with DVC and bought another 100 points (now have 650) to pay for the Alaska cruise. Sue

I was all set to order an International SIM card when I see that it will not work on my mom's phone. They must have updated their website over the weekend, because it was not listed last week.

So back to the drawing board to find the right plan for us.

It was a busy weekend, so the update didn't happen. Hope tonight!!

We are booked for a Viking Tour with Gallivant Tours in Stockholm. Since our time is so short, I asked Ellissa at Gallivant about transportation options from pier to tour meeting point at Nobel Museum. She suggested pre-arranging a taxi and gave me the contact information for Taxi 020 and Taxi Stockholm.

We have pre-arranged with Taxi 020 for 0745 pick-up at the pier. Driver will meet us with a sign. Bill researched the Magic's docking information on the Port of Stockholm website. We're supposed to be at Berth F638 Frihammen, but taxi company will double-check where ship will dock before they collect us.

After the tour, we're going to walk to the waterfront and catch the ferry to the Vasamuseet for the 11:30 tour (25 minute duration) in English. Taxi 020 will collect us at Vasa about 12:30 for 15 minute journey back to the pier, arriving before 1 PM all-aboard time.

Cost of the journeys will be 150-250 SEK (22-36 USD) each on a meter.

If you're interested in pre-arranged taxi service, their e-mail address is boka@taxi020.se. They have maxitaxis that seat up to 8 passengers as well as regular sedans. Maxitaxis cost about 50% more than a sedan.

I've told Taxi 020 that I intend to post their contact information for others who might need transporation in Stockholm. If you choose to contact them, feel free to mention that I referred you. Of course, the key is whether they show up, but so far I have dealt with three different agents and all have been very professional.

You are much braver than I. When Disney shortened our stay in Stockholm, we opted for the Disney excursion to ensure we didn't miss the ship. I have nightmares of standing on the pier as the ship pulls away!!!!:scared1:
